good stuph. A4SE700D was replaced by A4SE900D. But you can also use A4TE001G which is from the 2003 car and it's much easier to control your target boost.

if you want to check for fault codes press F8 in romraider logger or go to Tools and "Read Diagnostic Codes".

if you want to clear the codes just reset the ECU with F7 or Tools and "Reset ECU/TCU"

just done my first few logs

from what i can make out when the screen was ltv screen was in the logger all seemed pretty modest with no knock correction until i hit the limiter high up the revs

peter is gonna check over the logs as i have no excel on this new facking computer so we will see what happens

im also searching for various stages of maps to compare to mine to see what the differences and tweeks are from cars with known rempas etc

all good fun haha

The standard ECU only has 1 pin for a wideband signal and it's in use by the front O2 sensor. You could replace that signal with the feed from the wideband but its usually more hassle than it's worth.

You could try a USB hub but does your single USB port laptop have a com port on it that you could plug directly into?

with a mostly stock car the wideband is more of a safety check for your eyeballs to look at so just keep an eye to it when your boosting along and if the readings are close to what you expect you'll be grand.

lol excel is easy peasey. once you figure out how to insert a graph etc, it really helps you visualise in gear pulls etc for analysing. The key is to not log too many parameters as you will lose the resolution, ie less samples per second.

starting to use airboys spreadsheet now

gonna get car this afternoon and do bit i reckon so will see how it gos!

is there anyway to live map or not? would be nice to make changes on the fly or see what part of the table we are in at what point...i know logging allows us to see whats going on but real time info would be nice...or is that the sort of stuff reserved for aftermarket stuff only?

Sorry to jump on your thread, I just want some quick help..........

I have been following this thread and finally got a laptop sorted for this wknd.

I have managed to grab logs but I have just tried to read the ecu rom and ecu flash comes up with errors, 10-15 secs after I have tried to read the rom.

I'm assuming my issue is my links in the flash block? Are you guys just putting wires in the block or do you have the proper jumper connector? I cant find them for less than silly money.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dave - no you can't do live updates to the map you have to flash the car with the changes. You can use romraider log overlay to see which bits in the table your hitting though.

Manford - the romraider error looks like your flash jumper isn't hooked up good. I use unbent paperclips for the flash block and 1/2m of cable with a switch on it for the green test mode connectors.

Just double check your connects are nice and tight - and have another go at it.

Also if you still can't get it - is there any chance the car has had an ECUtek flash on it? If it's been locked by ECUtek then you may not be able to read the rom.

Im 99% the car is bog standard so would be suprised if there is any map on there, I will try using something better in the connector.

Ive been back on open source website looking through the steps for reading, im assuming the instructions are for an older version of ecuflash? I connect everything up and then click read from ecu, a pop up comes up, with turn your ignition on, so i do and then click ok. Right process?

yup thats the way to do it, but you need to have the flash block jumped and also the test mode connectors hooked up.

With test mode connector hooked up the ECU light will start flashing on the dashboard are you getting that?

1.5 inch long piece of wire with a spade connector on each end is all you need

Iv also used a bit of speaker wire with a switch for jumper connectors as per everyone else

On romraider getting started forum all the infor and links to pictures are on there

Id send you a link but im on my phone!

Ecu light? engine looking one above temp gauge? yeah thats flashing.

Yeah got both of those linked, when i do i get a weird noise from the car. one that sounds like a fan pulsing, its not the a/c fan that's off, and a noise that sounds like a clicking.

The fan noise is my radiator fans, cutting in and out?

More error logs,

Just had a thought, should have mentioned it at the begining, my bad.

My lead isnt a tactrix one, does that matter? Does it have to be the tactrix one? or are there cheaper alternatives?

I can read all the logs and live data.

There are certain cheap vagcom leads that can be shorted out but i had no luck. A tactrix cable is the best way esp when you are writing to the ecu.
regarding the block connector, i have used a paperclip but nowhave the correct block connector, both worked fine.

Iv heard mine make a few weird noises

Make sure you have the correct car selected in ecu flash

Mine defaulted to an evo and dis the same as yours

Leave ignition off and flash blocks disconnected and do as ecu flash states

Have to flick ignition on and ok/read almost simultaneously

Although from what you said by geting half a read you must be doing te first bit correctly

switch the rear window heater on just before flashing
you can sometimes get errors with the voltage to high

Yes you need to use an open port lead with ecuflash software. If you bought a vag com lead it can only be used for data logging.

This seems cheap, but what you think?

I can't find any other cables the tactrix with "open port"

Why not just get the real deal from tactrix directly - the guys have worked hard to make the product and support the opensource community - plus if you need warranty and support then this is how you get it.

You invest in the cable one time at a fraction of the cost of a remap - you can map and log as much as you want isn't this worth what they ask?

If I had the 150~quid for the cable I would. I was looking at doing this as a hobby and a cheaper and more rewarding way of mapping the car, as and when I could afford to change bits.

Can you use older versions of the open port cable?

150 quid is still cheaper than an aftermarket ecu or an ecutek license plus map. Price out some of those alien tech boxes I've seen the clones on ebay for 500 quid.

Depending on your car, I think it's up to hawkeyes you can still use the open port 1.3 cable but there is a table on the tactrix site you can use to work out what cable you need.

Iv upped the boost in the boost target table but not hitting what iv input

Iv rewritten the boost table but not tried it yes as im thinking is it worth playing with the wastegate duty cycles first?

I dunno whether to perhaps give a bit more advance to and hopefully this will bring boost in sooner

Obviously only try one thing at a time but what way in everybodys wxperience would you recommend to go?

Cheers

Have you tried logging primary waste gate duty and comparing it to the value in the rom?
