Question

Me again,

Is a hot AND very humid clmiate such as The Bahamas more likely to cuase engine knock AND more chance for piston damage etc vs. a colder climate ?

Asking becuase I want to be sure that all stock components will be able to handle the decatted mod (assume a increase of about 10 - 20 bhp and 10 - 15 ft. lbs. of torque with decatted car???) assuming I can get boost spike under control. Will the standard ECU fuel maps etc be ok ?? I use 98 RON plus octane booster. JPN spec STI-7.

Thanks guys,
Ray

In short, yes. Intake temps make a huge difference. Even more so as the intercooler would work much better in a colder climate.

but high humidity is liek water injection for free, so that will reduce your chances of det over low humidity, overall, not sure which would have more effect, but I suspect the higher intake temp would be the greater contributor.

Most of my relatives back home in Grenada run Front Mounts, not for the power advantages, but for the best possible cooling of the charge for a better, safer burn.
Being pretty close to the equator, we get high humidity too, but have never found it to be useful enough to be considered beneficial in any really measurable way.
I am in no way as knowledgeble as Adam etc, just my view on this subject and I know the climate of home pretty well
If I am talking complete cod, then please feel free to flame/ignore

Cheers,

Nick

Actually, I have just come back from Cairns and their climate is Very similar to ours in the West Indies, so if any of our Aussie freinds from that neck of the woods or above, like Darwin could comment, then that would be nice
