Climate Control fault
Headlamp washers loose after "being fixed" (hahaha) last time
Windscreen wiper blades slipping out of brackets. Reportedly fixed last time too.
Accelerator pedal sticking near the floor.

Hmmmmmm. I am starting to hope someone nicks it so i can order a Focus RS

laurence - didnt think it was important as i didnt floor it (not all the way honest ), didnt need to clean the headlamps, didnt need to use the wipers or the climate control

seriously, its a pain in the **** and the honda civic vti-s i had before spent less time in the dealers in 3 years than the clio has in 1 ! amazing considering i had 6 replacement clutches in 54000 miles !! (faulty master/slave cylinder that was found on the 5th swap)

Sounds like a "quality" motor!

Real pain in the @rse when you get loads of niggling little faults. The ECU warning light was flashing on my mates 172 the other day so that has to go in to be checked out.

Ok then. We didn't exactly get the chance for either of us to floor it did we?

Even when that Vectra didn't want me to go past I left it in 6th to overtake him

Jerry

CTR was not released when i ordered the 172 last June. Had it mid July and had to get it by August as the company insisted.

Still, i am trying to think of a way to get a Focus RS now....

Rich - the best thing about the dealers is that they tell you "yes theres a problem with xxx, we've ordered the part and will ring you in a couple of weeks to book it in".

When you do ring you get told "we cant fit you in for 3 weeks".

Have Renault not heard of overnight couriers, or even holding parts in stock......

Just got it back. Get this, its something out of a Russ Abbot show.......

Renault man: "OK Sir, we replaced the wipers, fixed the climate control, but we need to order a new pair of headlamp washers as its broken".
Me:"But it was broken when i checked the car after the washers were replaced 3 weeks ago at the 12k service, and thats why i booked it in again. Does that mean that a broken one was fitted and left in the hope i wouldnt notice ?"
RM:"Seems that way Sir. We will order the set in but it will take a couple of weeks."

Hahahahahaha i am soooo glad its a company car as if it was my own, I would have driven it through the glass doors into the showroom.

I dont care for Renaults after sales/service and think it stinks and I work for them I havent got a clio but the new Laguna and whenever it does need something looking at it usually takes a couple of weeks and the never clean it either...

They'll be a few Renault Franchises with there 2 year notice local to me soon

Druddle, out of curiosity where do you take yours?

My 2nd car (actually 3rd car till I sell the Lexus!) is a Renault Clio 1.6Si and will be the last Renault I ever own. Although it does regularly show speeds of over 200mph (thats a guesstimate as the needle sails off the clock after 2nd gear) and the flashing airbag lights are entertaining, I find that I have too many electrical faults. Full list of niggles:

Electric sunroof packed up the day we picked it up from the dealers (blew fuses every time you shut it)

Airbag light came on, took it back to the dealer, they diagnosed it as the passenger airbag being faulty, they took the dashboard out, then realised that they didn't have the part in stock. They gave us their courtesy car as it was going to take 2 weeks to sort out, after 2 days they phoned and asked for the courtesy car back. Oh, how we laughed, my ribs hurt and my eyes were streaming. They gave in and got us a hire car.

The speedo shows what speed it would like to be doing, not even related to reality.

Servicing is more expensive than my Lexus

MrsREV put water in the power steering fluid, thinking it was the washer fluid bottle (she had been under a general anesthetic the day before and still a little groggy )

The handle broke off the passenger seat so now you can't tilt it forward to let someone in the back.

Um, the interior is crap and it rattles and creaks like an ancient ship.

Thumbs down

Druddle - Sorry to hear about this...

... if only we'd been aware of how bad the Clio is and how bad Renault after sales service is before we bought my otherhalf's '02 Clio 1.2 Sport...

- After sales service is a joke.. eg. engine cuts out repeatly on a tuesday - dealer generously offers to fit us in a week on Friday... now, is it me, or is no power steering or brakes a potentially hazzardus combination on a car??? After much grief given by us, they looked at it soon and found nothing!

- comedy light display on dashboard, Check Engine Light amongst others flash intermitently... comedy response from dealer, come in 10 days from now, and then no fault was found!

- Latest thing - dealer has closed down in guildford... and the cowboys based in Woking have taken over... Except we will be using the one in Aldershot based on reports received about the woking lot..

- summary - crap after sales and no faults found and a very suspect little car - perhaps they got Fiat to do the electrics!

Ultimately it wouldn't be so bad if they seemed to give a sh** and try and give you some after sales service

Sorry rant over - but I think there is enough of us on here to get Watchdog interested surely!

Alex

oh yes forgot about the accelerator pedal. they checked with one in the showroom and it did the same thing. when you push it to the floor it gets almost there and goes stiff. it then clicks and goes all the way to the floor. i havent got the motivation to question it.......

i use fish brothers in reading. they were good at the start but have got worse. my car has even had things like clutches changed and the front bumper taken off and has never been cleaned when i got it back. wash/clean was even on the 12k service document and was not done. i guess i should have mentioned it, but i feel like its a waste of breath as i would only have to wait 2 weeks for it

My father used to work for a large chain that used to exist in Aberdeen. Back in the early 90s they lost the franchise for a popular Japanese make and gained the franchise for a certain French brand. From £1000 a month on warranty claims the garage claimed on the previous make, it jumped to £30K a *month*....

not having read all the post to this subject but to be honest it sound like typical French Car reliablity and quality!!

The amount of times I've been backwards and fowards with my saxo is more than enough!!

I find that the more that goes wrong you seem to pick up on the most smallest of things coz you just get so pi$$ed off with it!

Hope it gets all sorted
