Hi, I have just purchased a 1997 1.8 fiesta van (ex. BT) to use as a run around to save the mileage on the Scoob.

The van is very tidy and seems to go well. Can anyone give me any advice on maintaining the Diesel motor so that I get the max life out of it.

ie. What is really essential on a diesel (Cam-belt, Oil change, Timing?)

Any hints or tips would be much appreciated.

Cheers

PS The mileage is 52000.

Thumbs up

Get the cam belt changed along with the belt idler and ajuster, they have a nasty habit of failing and shredding the belt. Diff bearings can wear, usual sign is the speedo stops working and oil leaks around the drive shafts. Front tyres don't last long as they are small and there is lot of weight on them. Can't think of anything else other than they are a good little van and should get you 50 plus to the gallon.
