Treacle mines......WTF!!

I don't think it was eaten, but used on old ships and the like as a kind of sealant.

I lived in Sabden, lancs. for a few years and live 2 miles away now, the treacle mines are famous around there.
Plenty of road signs around leading to the treacle mines. They do actually get hundreds if not thousands of tourists each year.

i went to CRGS (the other side of Pendle) and can confirm that the Sabden Treacle Mines are for real. There was a hundred year old book in the library that had a reference to them.

Talkin of Ken Dodd,he lives 5 mins from me,in a place called Knotty Ash,yes its a real place,and he still lives there.
I dont know about the diddy men or the jam buttie mines though
