April 22, 2002 - Nintendo today announced that it has dropped the price of its next-generation console in Europe by 20 percent. GameCube, which was formerly set to debut in Europe on May 3 for 250 euros, will now retail at launch for 199 euros, or $177 USD. The machine will, meanwhile, now sell at 129 pounds in Britain, or $186 USD, a 24 percent discount.
And this is just before it gets released looks like the console wars have just begun big time
