If you want the ultimate outdoor watch, you need a Breitling Emergency......they are bullet proof, digital and chronomat display and they even have a function which allows you to unscrew a cap on the side of the watch which sends out a distress signal on 121.5MHz
and you get rescued by a helicopter(and charged for it I suspect)
Take a look at the range on Breitling.com

What's the point in having a bullet proof watch, when your wrist isn't?

What do you want the watch for? pose value? If it's fitness your after, then your better getting a decent HRM from Polar.

Breitlings are soooo vulgar, ostentatious and gawdy, and frankly, worn by people with money but no taste.

Seb,
Brietling are the finest flight watches manufactured, end of story. They are not all bulkey, emergency series,B1s,and avengers are huge but the likes of the Navitimers(like Tiff wears)are not huge. Also the wings series are not big either 38mm dia,12.9mm thick and wieghing only 71.4 grams,as opposed to 43mm dia,15.8mm thick and 84.6 grams of the emergency, you know youve got this watch on.I must admit I have a thing for big watches,Omega seamaster, omega seamaster GMT,brietling emergency,B1s ect.Ive also just realised looking at my collection, that every watch I own has a rotating bezel.....wierd never noticed before.
