Question

I've seen various ideas on oils, but really am confused. My car is an MY00, ITG, Dawes and standard after that ...

Any advice would be gratefully received!

According to most they are in no particular order

castrol RS 10w 60
Motul Comp 300v no too sure what weight may be 10w40
Redline oils cant remeber exact details

latter two have a very good base stock
I use castrol because in Dublin its the easiest to get...

Cheers

Mine runs on Castrol Magnatec semi-synthetic... Dealer told me fully-synthetic would be too thin and run to one end of the engine in sharp corners and roundabouts... not sure if it's true but it sounds logical!

Mobil 1 is 0w40 most of the time (too thin), but there's also a 15w50 which seems to be about more & more. That's the one to pick!

Castrol RS 10/60 (careful cos they do 0/40 as well) or Motul 300V 15/50.

Silkolene Pro S 10w/50

As used by TSL and ScoobySport...as well as other good garages

Always check what oil your dealer puts in your scoob, its your engine not their's!
They are there to make a profit, and charging top price for cheap oil is a nice little earner. If it f#cks up your engine, they get paid to repair it...they can't lose

BOB

PS. Check out the threads in general about oil...

Justchange to Mob 1 15-50

Thy do the dealers put Castrol Magnatec semi-synthetic 10 -40 in?

After 3.5K it was black and like water. I thought i was one synthetic till i call and checked with the main dealer.

I supose I will have to supply my own oil for now on. 4.5L by the way

At Subaru they use an oil entitled "Subaru semi-synthetic 10W40"
Does anyone know which company is behind this oil?

Does anyone know where you can get Mobil 1 supplied in 4.5l containers because everywhere I have tried will ony sell it in a 4l container which is a pain in the **** because you need 4.5l to do a complete oil change.

Cheers

Thumbs up

Thanks guys ...

I guess a semi synthetic 10-50 / 15-50 or 60 is wot's needed, Castrol, Mobil Silkolene, or Motul ... The easiest to get hold of I guess is the Mobil or Castrol.

Steve
