Thumbs up

Just thought since all these cars are saying good bye to their owners, and their has been talk about how to stop it etc etc..

I found this company that do an alarm that will text you when it goes off etc. By the looks of it, it will work on all the UK Phone Companys. Have a look, I know im thinking of one..

So? let me get this right - you get a text message so that you know your car has been nicked, just before you turn the corner and SEE its gone!!

Just joking! I can see a flaw in this already - they get around the Alarm and Immobiliser circuit. Therefore I doubt whether you would get an 'Alert' at all.

Of course if they TAKE the car off you .... you KNOW its gone!!

What we need is a remote grenade dropper - a grenade that rolls out of the dashboard and comes to rest on the scums *********

Question

Shouln't you focus on the quality of the alarm itself - how good is it ? How does its security features compare against some of the leading alarms out there ?

This is only a technology gimmick - and any of the leading alarm distributors could easily add such a feature - they haven't becuase its not a top priority.

If you do a search on the Internet for 'gps tracking devices' there are loads of devices like this. None from what you would call major players in the alarm industry.

Just a quick update for you all,

I have just got of the phone with Cary Knapton (Managing Director) of the company that makes this device. This unit has got loads of stuff built into it. It all depends what you want it to do.

The Unit will also have a Gatso Camera alarm, if the car is stolen you are able to set the unit to report its posision every 5 minutes, so you are able to track and report this info to the police.

The best thing is that the Business Package only costs £399 and the only other costs are the SMS messages... so depends on how you set the unit up, will depend on how much it costs, they are also looking at getting it on the Thatcham List as well.

I hope to let you all know what the unit is like, as I will be getting one upon my return to the UK..

So what this space..

Emmm looks interesting,

After my "interesting" experiences with tracking devices (IE. TELEMATIX). Having something that I have full control of, sounds a good idea. Gives you the chance to decide whether to phone the police, or go pay a visit with a few mates! Rather like a lot of home alarm systems can now be set up to ring your mobile (like mine). Though it would be a brave person that broke into my house. Even I make sure the dogs know it's me that's coming in!

Keep us informed...
