Question

When I cancelled my order for a MY01, the Dealer (Lancasters of Reading) said that his books were full until June. Now its mid Feb, he must have delivered a fair few by now.

But I've still not seen a single one on the road!

So where are they? Or are the owners too embarrassed to drive such an ugly car in daylight?

Nope not seen a single one on the roads yet either!!

All the potential owners of the MY01 Impreza are currently repeating the following mantra in the hope that others may begin to believe it "It only needs different headlights, different wheels a different spoiler and more power and then it WILL be a good car"

The final nail in the coffin is that in the EVO magazine group test this month it was no better than a Clio 172 (Which is 5K cheaper).

The Impreza has now lost the title of best affordable performance car.

I thought that Listers had one once Dentmasters have finished with it

Spoke with my local Dealership, they have three in, all sold!

Thumbs up

Seen two in or around Stafford.

The owners both responded to the wave / thumbs / flash of the lights.

Which is a lot better than the response I get from pre MY01's.

Maybe a better class of driver / enthusiast ?

From a WRX owner

Hey - you can all kiss my ***!!!

Your mothers probably thought you were beautiful!!!

My cars gorgeous. So there.

It nice having such an "exclusive" car. Got mine last month. Waiting list of 4-6 weeks is if you want one with the sports seats. The buckets wont arrive till may at the earliest - they are all snapped up according to my dealer.

Once i get me some decent lights, wheels, spoilers, suspension, exhaust and PPP youll all laugh on the other side of your faces!

Shame - i could have bought an Evo VII for that kind of money!!!!!!

It grows on you OK!!!!!!!!

James

Red face

I've seen one on an M25 Junction roundabout. I was so gobsmacked, I missed a couple of gaps in the traffic watching it pootle off from the right hand lane!

It didn't make any discernable noise over, say, what a corolla would make

I guess I won't be saying that when an STi MY02 pulls up beside me with breathing mods and ecu upgrade! I'll be in a skyline by then though

Paul -

Grateful they may be ( ) 100% Response is better than the less than 50% response from pre MY01's ( admittedly more than 2 ) in my book.

It's still an Impreza and I'll wave at them from my P1 any day.

I always wave regardless of the model type, seem to get less of a response these days, suprising as they don't even know me!

Joey
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! LOL ( i had to look twice)

I still haven't seen one either, strangely though I saw a new Alfa 147 on the weekend and they've just come out a few days before! It looked quite nice.

Parked next to a 5 door the other day. Side profile I had to doudle check what it was. Even though Ive been in about a dozen new cars I still had to walk up to it to peek inside. Fine until the driver opened the door etc etc. Not entirely convinced he believed me when I said mine had arrived, just hadnt had it registered!!

New car is definitely for me now.

Re affordable performance car, I dont think 172 owners compare themselves to WRX owners or vice versa. Am I wrong? Not had an Impreza for over 3 years. I know then I saw a Clio ***** as a totally different type of car.

Cheam Motors have a Sonic Blue 5-door in the showroom - colour is amazing under the flourescent lights.

I was suprised how 'tall' the car is though - it just seems too high off the ground.

And even with 17" wheels, they still look too small.

But the car does look ok when you see it for real IMHO.

£22.5K though <gasp> - no way !

They also have a silver 4-door on the forecourt.

Kevin.

I've seen one MY01 on the roads.

It was a silver 5 door, it went past me going the other way on the M1 at J12. It looked quite good untill I saw the light(s)

The wagon looks better than the saloon IMHO on the new car - I spent quite a few hours looking at them at the Motorshow from the VIP veranda

Subaru will do something about the looks - they have to - and I think all those who bought the 'ugly one' will be stuck.

There is an uglier car out there - its the Ford Scorpio - Ford quickly abandoned that one didnt they?? - Subaru cannot allow their flagship model to be an ugly flop - as it will be so they will improve the looks
