Question

Firstly are all early WRX models silver!!! I am looking for a decent WRX for around the £8k mark. Most of the ones from the Trader website seem to be silver, a colour that I am not that keen on. I have seen a couple of red and black ones - did they only do three colours over in Jap land back then?

Secondly has anyone got any advice on what sort of Scooby I should get for £8k???? Either import or UK??

I have been quoted £920 FC insurance for a WRX so I am keen to get one of them now, or a UK model - any tips, advice running costs, things to look for would be superb.

Cheers
Simon

Apparently, silver is a very popular choice of colour in Japan (it helps keep the car cool during the summer) and hence silver scoobs are more common and tend to be less expensive (in Japan).

I think next most popular is white, followed by red, green and black.

An early WRX gives you slightly more power than a UK car (bigger turbo), stiffer suspension, and nicely spaced (close) ratios in the gearbox to help keep the engine spinning!

Well I just paid around that figure for a MY96 Uk 5 door, but you could get a 4 door for that money too... this was from a Subaru main dealer too, with no part ex I was just forceful on the "Why should I buy from you and not Mr Smith selling one privately down the road" off came £1700 from the screen price....

Private you can get a 96 or even a 97 uk car!

Cheaper insurance... I think

Would love a Makkinen after Oulton but am skint and can only stretch to £8K. The Skyline was just a hooligan car Not sure what you would do with that sort of power on a wet road!!!

Were you at Oulton and saw me smiling, or have you read my post? Cracking day out
