Lockyears are ok (a little expensive imho) and former main dealers.

Failing that see if Steve Lawson can fit you in would be my advice.
Mail me for contact details if you need them.

(am assuming you werent asking for main dealer referalls as i can't comment on any of them as they all treat me like scum when ive been there in my sti5).

Try Cheam Motors, not in West Sussex but not too far - another 30 minutes from Gatwick and the customer service is very good.

I'm booked in for a 22.5k service soon.

Cheam quoted me £109.50 - SIDC 10% discount.
Gatwick quoted me £140 - SIDC 10% discount.

Gatwick pretty good, will pick up and return and were lending out a WRX while they were servicing.

Only had one small problem with them (that they sorted) since I've used them.

Gatwick seem OK to pick up on servicing imports, only problem is that they dont have a Jap parts catalogue so cant tell if required parts relate to a UK ones. This is where Cheam are better as they are very on the ball with imports and are equipped to deal with them..

Used Lockyear once, they were expensive and did come across a little bit arrogant.. I've used Gatwick for basic stuff anything more involved at it's of to ScoobySport..

When u say imports I can only assume you are talking about 'parallel imports' rather than 'grey imports' like Stis.

I haven't had a good experience with Gatwick.

Level of service is very good
The parts guys are very helpful but do struggle a bit with imports (see earlier comment)
The quality of work done to my car has been good.
Diagnostic ability, the ability to spot a fault very poor. This has happened to me twice now.
Personaly I would not go there again for service but I do go there for parts. However others seem to have had a better experience than me.

I am thinking of trying Lockyear cars. Although people here are saying they are expensive and a bit arrogant.

Steve Lawson has a very good reputation, but when I spoke to him recently he was about to loose his workshop! 07956 619287

Cheers
Steve

Got my sti5 booked in for service with Lockyears tommorrow(must of had about 10 services there so far)and I've always been pleased with the level of attention and care etc.

Maybe there a little bit more expensive but whenever i've had little probs like rattles etc they've always sorted it without charge......Mind you thats probably because i've bought several sti's from them

I used Gatwick and before that when they were at Scaynes Hill.

They are great for basic servicing offering a pick-up/delivery service, however after a recent fiasco which for their sakes I won't go into in detail I have no confidence in technical ability or their willingness to compensate sufficiently for ineptitude.

Cheam are a much better bet. They know their stuff and Andrew Barker is every bit as helpful as you would hope for.

Don't know Lockyears.

Just don't bother taking imports to either of our nearest main dealers, they wont touch em and treat you like some kind of vagrant for owning one.

Talking

Pete,
If you want parts for an import, Gatwick will help! Tell Chris (the parts girl you know me)or for sevicing you could give her otherhalf a call (Mike @ Rivett Auto's, Subaru Specialists in Oakwood hill out Dorking way)(tell him I sent you)
I'll let you know what their like in a week or so after they sort my nackered engine out

Gatwick's limiting factor has been stated above "they don't have the parts manuals for imports"

Iain.

I second that
I wouldn't take it to Gatwick
E-mail me or call me Ian and I will let you know of my experience.

Do you get a 10% discount at Gatwick for ownership of the SIDC?

Andy (facing a large bill at Gatwick at the moment ;-)

Gatwick do offer a 10% SIDC discount but I'm not sure if this applies to parallel or grey imports.

Thumbs up

That's cool, 'cos mine is a Uk car. With a bill of about 1000 squids waiting, that'll pay for my SIDC membership and alot more
