Question

I need to update some system documentation and would like to print or extract info from User Manager for Domains, WINS Manager and DHCP Manager.

Has anyone used any software that can either replace or provide some reporting for these utilities?

Tools are in resource kit for WINS/DHCP. Try 'net /?' from a cmd prompt for user info.

in the ntresource kit... use...

Group.vbs
Share.vbs
ListPrinters.vbs
Group.vbs
OSReconfig.VBS

you could then pipe these to a file...

eg cscript group.vbs //NoLogo >MyFile.txt

Let me know if you need anything else...

Cheers Richard, but I was looking for something GUI-based rather than that old chestnut

Dave,

Haven't tried those vbs scripts before, so I'll give 'em a run to see what the output.

Thanks,
Stefan

BTTT.

Tried those VB scripts as suggested, but they don't give me the info I need.

Ideally looking for something that would print/output a list of groups in the domain as well as all it's members.

Also something that would give me a graphical output of folders/files with user permissions.

I can probably do you a script that would give you the group name and then a list of members and then next group name and list of members and so on?

As for gui based with permissions... hmmm... try hyena... unsure on its reporting though... otherwise you are going to have to use something like acls.exe

Hi Dave,

I found a small freeware utility called NetUser. It's GUI-based and provides a printout of all users, home dir, profile dir and group membership. It's pretty basic, but it's a start.

There's also DameWare NT, but that looks like it's more of an admin tool than a reporting one.

Seems to be a huge gap in the market, so I'm surprised there not more easier to come by.

Thanks,
Stefan
