Yup, looks better, I guess a JDM import would be the only way to get one Not that I'll be changing my car for a few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they change their mind and release it over here at some point. It does look better.

A bit Hyundai around the rear quarter and wheelarch..... I wonder whether theres room for more wheels?

The blame for this lays with International Motors: they specify SO much as the concessionaire. Manufacturers rely on their importers home market knowledge. Thats why the trim on early 2000 Turbos was so f*cking awful: IM assuming that traditional Subarus customers would buy them.....

Fail.

Not any more, that was when GM had a stake in Subaru, Toyota now own a certain percentage.

You don’t buy a Subaru for its looks. I have owned impreza turbos since they were introduced in 1994. They have never been a good looking car. The honest and un-blinkered enthusiast bought the car for the performance and handling. There was nothing else for the price that would come close unless you imported an evo. Unfortunately other marques have upped the ante and have cars with similar power and handling with much better looks.
Subaru have rested on their laurels for too long. The hatchback is a huge step forward for a company that sold mostly to farmers.
Take off the blinkers and accept that changes happen for the better. We would all still be running round in Model T Fords if some of you anti-progress lot had your way.

Personally, I always liked the clean simple lines of the Classic Impreza. I think that it was quite a pretty car.

at least the new SUbaru's will help (a little) to keep the second hand market busy... It's been a mammoth design mistake. I don't care how well a car drives if it looks ugly it won't sell many cars .....

Thing is, it's only Scooby owners who think the new Scoob is ugly, and I actually really like the new shape. Yes it's a bit mainstream, and the back lights are just wrong but on the whole I think it is a far better looking car than a bug eye, maybe even a blob. Lets face it, since the classics, only the hawk eye has been decent looking

I disagree, most change in cars has not been for the better in terms of driving experience, its more about safety and those cuddly polar bears not drowning.

I personally prefer non gadgetted cars, both my scoobs have been classics, before that my fun car was a 205 1.9 Gti (not safe in modern terms but great to drive) and the current fun comes from a Lotus Elan SE1, all cars you have to drive without stuff like traction control and all the other crap that makes the car drive you.

Next stop for me will be an Ariel Atom if they and I survive the credit crunch

As for the look of the new Subaru I guess the heady mix of crack, viagra and absinthe at the design house didnt help otherwise how else did they come up with the illegitimate love child of the new Focus and the Seat Leon!
