P1 and ferry's
does anybody know how the front lip spoiler on a P1 fairs on cross channel ferries?
the thing is sooo low and i am always paranoid everywhere i go.
garages have trouble with normal drive on lifts and have to use the type that go under the sides to lift the car.
has anyone taken theirs to France?
cheers

I'm also paranoid about the front spoiler. Lost count of the times it's been grounded. I hadn't considered ferries but now you bring it up I would suspect problems in this respect. The Chunnel seems a far safer bet!!

Dont have anything to help RE front spoiler. But I'm taking delivery of a P1 soon & wondered what the procedure was with TRACKSTAR - ie enabling it etc. - does it take long to sort out / and do the RAC send you a zapper to enable it etc.... ???
Gastro,
A couple of points.
The trackstar details will be given to you when you collect the car. The cost is something like £90 per year, or £300 + for life. I will be activated on the spot.
The trackstar is permenantly enabled and is totally seperate from the alarm. It's a GPS based system which detects where the car is at all times. If the car moves whilst the ingition is off, you'll immediately get a call from the Milton Keynes HQ asking if you're with the car etc.
When mine was trailered from the dealer, they phoned me straight up, and asked where the dealer was etc, to confirm what was going on. Clever, but a little disconcerting.

I've taken mine on the Isle Of Wight ferry, as mentioned above, just take it very slowly and you should be fine...
I also had a call from the RAC whilst on the ferry to say my car was moving... seems their computers take 20 mins to update, so ring them more than 5 mins before boarding (like I will in future)
.. so mine works

I believe satellite based tracking systems have a lot of hassle with sending to a vehicle if it's in a metal box - like a ferry for example... So it wouldn't know your car was moving.
Anyone else confirm this ?
Or maybe you left the engine running the whole way over

Happy,
Have taken my P1 from Scotland to Ireland and back again on the ferry with no problems with the spoiler....
Just took it real sloooow on the ramps. The one thing I would be wary of is if it's the type of ferry where the ramp to the second deck is part of the ferry itself - they tend to be viciously steep. In my case, the ramp to the upper deck was "external" and much more shallow....
You can always get to the port early and have a word with the folk responsible for the loading, they should be able to accomodate you, e.g. by loading you on a deck where the ramp is shallow...
As others have said, phone Trackstar to let them know when you are travelling....
Cheers
