Anyone got any of these??

I got a price from Costco for 205/50 x 16, 112GBP fitted including balacing fitting etc.

I could go for some Conti SportContacts or Pirelli PZero's what do you think?

Cheers

Dont do it - as they are :

The price is good but you might want to try a different tyre.

I have these on the front of a MY01 (215/45/17),they are better than the OE Bridgestones, good in the dry but not very grippy in the wet.

Try and get a price for Goodyear F1's or Toyos if it is possible, the Goodyears should cost no more than you have been quoted so far (don't know about the Toyos) and both have a better reputation for all round performance that the Michelins.

Hey,

Question, are these Michelin pilots sport cups, the road legal
semi-slicks? (owner of scoobysport is running these)

Too expensive.

You can get Toyos/F1's for £80-£90 fully fitted - much better tyres for your Scoob.

O.K. Guys thanks for the advice!

I've had a long hard think about which tyres I should get over the last week or so.

I've decided to get some Pirelli PZero's as that's what the front's have on (I bought the wheels second hand from Peter V)...

Guess what I've been offered them at 85GBP each from Hardwick Tyres (Foxhunters) in Whitley Bay(NR Newcastle) Bargain!!! A much better price than Costco's Michelin Pilot Sports...

I also though I'd spoil the car a bit more and I've bought some Red Anodised Valve stumps to replace the rubber ones.

Cheers

Oops, P Zero's don't have that good a reputation for wet grip on here either.

Oh, and Contis are BAD!

crazybelg
No, they are not the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups - those are £180 each, road legal moulded slicks with a reduced tread depth (4mm) as used on the Porsche Cup racers and available in 225/40x18

O.K. Guys I understand your comments re: Pirelli tyres.

I would have gone for any of the best three: Bridgestone SO3's, Toyo F1's or Goodyear F1's...but I've decided on the Pirelli's as they appear to be somewhat more cost affective!!!

Most of my driving is in a straight line to be honest on dual carriage ways....well 75% of it...to and from work..

I could have opted for some Marshall's, Continentials or Falkens for that matter to save mor emoney, but IMO the Pirelli's should be better than the above...well according to the Autocar "Tyre Test"

Cheers

I've just had 4 Eagle F1 delivered in 205/50/ZR16 for £252 inc VAT. That's £63 a corner. Fitting will is going to be round £10 a corner by the nice chaps at TSL.

Read this review from the American site "TyreRack"

Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico - 1997 Porsche Boxster - Miami, FL
Driving Style: Fast and Aggressive - Driving Condition: Combined Highway/City
Reviewer's Overall Ratings: 7.50 out of 10 - Review Submitted 2001-02-28
Porsche Boxster '97 The Zeros are truly amazing tires. The level of dry grip is very high but the way they communicate with the driver is what sets them apart from all other tires. I have tried SO2's and Conti Sports but they do not come close to the level of performance provided by the Pirelli PZero. These tires have transformed my Boxster on the street and at the track. I will definitely purchase these tires again from Tirerack and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for some "mad" stick in the dry.

Well I suppose your right about in the wet, but I don't drive like a looney in the wet..So if the tyres are good enough for a Porsche Boxster they good enough for a Scooby

Cheers

Question

If they were so good , why did he only give them 7.5 out of 10?
It's a case of 'horses for courses' - the PZero's may be okay on the Boxster, but the general consensus is that they're not great on a Scoob, where you're better off with SO3's, TS-1's or F1's.

a different opinion for you guys -
I have a Fiat Coupe, and they come with Pzero Asymetricos as standard. Almost all coupe owners in the know are now on F1s, Falken FK451s (a genuine good budget option) or SO2/3s. The PZeros wet roadholding is nowhere near any of the other aforementioned tyres.

Off the subject of tyres and onto the subject of Costco.

They do sell tyres cheap but if they're like the branch near me beware, they tend to splash the glue all over the wheels - not good on alloys

The P zero or pzero rosso is not the best Impreza tyre out there...and yes i've actually used them.

It's your life - the tyres are the only thing that keep you on the road and not wrapped round a tree - cheapest isn't best, is it worth another £100.....!

But hey, spend the money on some coloured valves instead

Assume S02 are not available now or difficult, S03's work well, as do Toyo Proxes T1S, and Goodyear F1 - and very little else.
