I will be surprised if he makes it out alive, if I were a parent of the school I would make sure of it.

I am sure this POS will get protection in the same way Huntley does - shame

General population for them all sdo they understand juist how wrong and how dispicable wrong their crimes are.

I cannot see how this POS can possibly be released without a guarantee that he will not reoffend, it is not like he nicked a jumper from M&S is it FFS.

Some crimes should warrant life meaning life. I would not want this POS to ever be let out.

He's a despicable creature
As the victims father said. Not anywhere near enough punishment.
He should never see freedom again

Severing his head off in public would bo too good tbh!

Heres a thought though, why not keep all nonces etc in a big prison some place, and use them solely when someone needs a kidney, or a heart transplant etc, seen as though the taxpayer foots their bill at her majesty's pleasure, why not make use of them?

Is there any way that the British public can influence the powers that be to make sure this POS will never be allowed the chance to be free
There must be something that the right minded people of the UK can do.

That is an awful story. I think that once the death penalty was applicable to certain kinds of rape. Not sure that it was this country though.

He should be locked up for life.

Anyone who commits an offence like this should have the same punishment thrust upon themselves by means of a **** off mechanical bum raping machine, daily, in a public gallery!

Paul you seem to spend a lot of time looking for things to be irate about

However in this case it's hard not to feel that the justice system has let down the victim, the victims family and society in general

See, this is what pi$$es me off about the good old british media...they never report the whole story or explain things properly.

The guy was sentenced to a term of imprisonment for public protection, which basically means a life sentence. The judge has to set the tariff at half of what the determinate sentence WOULD have been, so if sentenced under 'normal' provisions the guy would've got 14 years.

However, the judge determined that this guy posed a significant risk of causing serious harm by doing it again, so he' locked him up for life. The 7 year term is the minimum he'll serve before he's eligible to apply for parole. Likelihood is, he won't get that as the only way he can get it is to convince the parole board that he no longer poses any danger and that is highly unlikely. So the reality is that he will probably never be released.

If however he is released at some point, he will be on life license (unless he stays out of trouble for at least 10 years when a judge can then remove it). The responsibility for recall to prison is now with the government and not the judges and they recall for the slightest thing.

The law relating to these sentences has been in force a little over 3 years now. I don't know the exact figures, but was told recently by a judge that only around 10 people who have had these imposed since they came into force, have been released. Of that number only around 2 are still on the outside.

So the truth is, the judge imposed a type of sentence which is, in effect, a life sentence. This guy will probably never be released.

I'll climb off my soapbox now!!

There is no justice system in England, only a legal system. Two very different beasts.

Innocent until provem guilty. A system that is biased in favour of perpetrators of criminal acts such as this.
