IE intermittently not connecting until I press refresh?

IE intermittently not connecting until I press refresh?
Anyone help with this one, running Vista with the latest Internet Explorer on NTL broadband.
Seems that over the past several weeks a high proportion of websites (scoobynet, lloyds banking, bbc etc etc) wont connect first time, so I have to then press Refresh, and up the page comes. Its very intermittant though.
Scanned with Kaspersky and Spybot - nothing suspicious.
Anyone else having similar problems or can offer a solution?
