Question

I have decided to take the plunge and buy a digi camera.

I reckon It will be a canon ixus V.

Does anybody know a good place to buy them cheap.

I have just got back from andorra and they were £320.
Dixons is only £350 so I didnt bother buying one out there.

Dabs is £366 so where I am missing folks....

Thumbs up

Jessops are pretty good, i think they price match too...

Would check out the Fuji Finepics or what ever it is...

I have the Canon Ixus V too and it is a great bit of kit, the movie mode on the Fuji I think is better, the IXUS does it in chucks of about 10 secs...

Try New York Camera, based in Germany. http://www.ny-camera.com

They have the IXUS V for 498.90 Euros, which is about £306. That price includes German VAT, but not shipping which is about another 10 Euros. Because they're in the EU you don't have to pay any extra taxes or duties.

I've read good things about them on DPReview, and I have about £500 worth of stuff on order from them right now. They do have a chap there who speaks excellent English if you prefer to phone; I had a couple of minor problems with their Web site.

Andy.

Once you know what you want, try a price comparison on www.kelkoo.com

I wantend a Fuji 6800 and the cheapest place was a French retailer called www.nomatica.com (£400 plus VAT with 64mb)

Nice website and they delivered in about a week.

I recomended them to two friends in the office who have now made three orders between them!

(No connection, just a happy customer etc.)

Was looking at Ixus but went for Fuji Finepix 40i cos it's way smaller. good camera too.

would agree that you should go to dpreview and do a comparison of features then for pricing, checkout http://www.price-guide.co.uk/

seems to be one on there for 325

Cheers folks,

That dpreview is a good site. Nomatica are selling them (ixus V)for £332 or £356 with a 64mb card.

Going to check out the Fuji stuff now for a comparison.

The FinePix 40i must be tiny! I've been well happy with my Ixus since I've had it (about 18 months now I guess).

I'm going in the other direction now though... just ordered a new SLR with a decent zoom lens.
