What is the best oil for a scooby, and should it be, fully or part synthetic. Also i have a wrx 1995, if i put a decatt down pipe on does it make alot of difference. And lastly if i do decatt will it pass MOT then. i know you guys know
im using millers CFS 10w 40 for winter fifty(£38 for 5L from motoglass) and its good stuff, wouldnt go any lighter than that tbh, could prob use a 15w 50 in summer...mobil 1, millers CFS, castrol are all highly regarded, or if u can get motul 300v even better
as for a decat there are a good few about, personally hayward and scott get my vote, very good quality and fit well. It also noticalbly improved spool up and the magnex full system sounds even better now...prob wouldnt pass MOT though???

my car runs on mobil 1 and have had no probs altho some find it too thin.hayward and scott seem to be the decat downpipe to have .i have one ordered it apparantley makes quite a difference and its totally legal to run with no cats on a car made before 2000
i think

it would be fully synthetic CFS range, its very good stuff, alot of the rally boys would use it too......it works out about 15-20 quid cheaper than the mobil 1 too as they only sell mobil in 4L containers so u have to buy an extra 1 litre at something like 12 quid!
if you do get mobil 1 make sure its the motorsport stuff.

Dont forget the all important boost controller. You cant fit or should i say, shouldnt fit a bell mouth decat down pipe without an aftermarket boost controller fitted as spool up time is reduced and turbo rpm is increase causing a bit of bother.
The car will need afrd too just to be safe.
Michael recommends a Greedy boost controller as they are easier to set, but they are all quite similar.
PS im no expert

Dont get me wrong mate, £300 would sort you out with both(value for money kit) not real good gear. Once fitted, properly set up and afr'd its as safe as houses, if not safer, easier on the turbo, managed that bit better with the boost controller. Its only when you start looking for higher boost levels 13/15psi+ that 98/99 Mafs cant hack the pace and die, if you drive the car hard.
Phone around a few of the local tuners and talk to them, get a few ideas, but set your budget lmfao
Thats the only way to learn.

De-Cat downpipe makes a BIG difference on a classic.
It will however fail MOT unless you obtain a centre cat for fitment at MOT time or just refit the std. downpipe again.
Is there any truth in the fact that as NI test centres cant measure nox on pre 2000 cars, you can get away without a cat
Wondering what the power increase would be on '99 with bell mouth decal and dsbc just set to around 12 psi? Does it change power levels much? Wouldnt want to run on rollers just to find out

Well my car felt totally different when i originally got the openmouth downpipe and boost controller fitted along with a fuel pump, it defo makes a big difference to the spool up of the turbo and the drivability of the car!!
