The standard serial com port connector is useless, as most laptop since 1870 don't have serial ports anymore. Can anyone give me any help? Jesus H 29 November 2007, 18:39 all you need to get is a pcmcia rs232c card for your laptop. That will give you a proper serial port for the Cliffnet to work with. HHxx 30 November 2007, 23:50 I use a Prolific Technologies USB to serial adapter with Cliffnet with no problems. This was under Win2k and XP. The only times I had an issue was when Windows assigned a high com port number to the interface. I think I had to assign it one between 1-4? You do this in device manager, properties on the usb com port, port settings tab and then the advanced button.
