Hi guys another black one. iscoob from here :D started at about 9:15 this morning and finished at about 7:45. The usual process. I went through every pad in my collection on this one though. Very touogh subaru paint. Some deeper marks still wouldn't shift but they were made a lot better.

To be fair the car was very well looked after in the first place. It seemed a shame to strip back the superb layer of wax that was on there.

and some afters. the owner asked me to use his zymol carbon as this is what he is going to carry on using. the car was hd cleansed down and then treated a good layer of the wax. so the results:

How do you keep it like that now though and avoid getting the swirls back?

Never seen the blue/black paint up close before (mine's gold/black).

The wheels look good too in that colour :cool:

I saw it last nice, very nice work mneame!

Apparantly there only only 98 blue/black STIs around

Cheers for the comments guys. to keep it like it it'll need washing with the 2 bucket method with a lambswool wash mit and then drying with a microfibre drying towel. only use straight lines too. have a look at the polished bliss guides :thumb:

you'll never avoid marking the paint full stop but this is the best way to avoid it.

I had a close call with some bird crap yesterday, got the windscreen and not the paint. :eek2:


Dirty feather wearing freaks.... Go crap on a mondeo or somthing :nono:

Get a bottle with a trigger sprayer to shoot is off the paint work and then pat dry with the micro fibre:thumb:

What was that spit shining thing you were on about Matt?
For layering the wax?

when you buff off / buffed off the wax, you spray a fine mist of water over the wax. then add another layer of wax on. it helps to set the lower layer so you can put another layer of wax on before having to wait for it to weather.

Do you wipe the water off or just wax over the wet surface?

that way i do this is to apply a reasonable layer but not too much to a smallish area (half the roof, bonnet or a door) and let it sit for a couple on mins. then start to buff it off. when it starts to shine spray it with the water. then put another thin layer of wax on top using a damp cloth. keep going and it'll build up.

this is the way that i do it. very similar to spit shining boots like the army do. i'm sure that there are slight variations to the method but this is what works best for me.
