Question

My kind wife bought me a Tamiya Subaru R/C car for christmas. It is great fun but as in real life I am now looking to start up grading it.

Any info would be great. The model is a TL01 Subaru.

Cheers

Martyn

Hi M8

I'd start by getting a RC car magazine for contacts and part info.
A tuned sport motor, uprated battery and ballrace kit will get things moving faster though.

I bought the WRC99 Tamay, used it for 30 secs and didn't have the heart to wreck it, so it sits with pride of place in my living room!

I'll get my coat.....

Cheers,

Nick

Mr Footlong,

That's a terrible waste!!! The kits are really robust, me and the girls had a massive ramp out the backdoor the other day, and was jumping a good 10 ft out and 3ft up in the air.

Don't have it on show, bloody use it, spare parts are available if you do smash it up

You can get upgraded motors from any proper model shop, also if you change the cog on the motor you can have faster aceloration(Sp?) or faster top end.

Been along time since i had a tamiya, but when i did i got a technigold motor different pinion gears and a 8.4 volt battery to speed mine up.

I have a kyosho scoob, but the gears cannot be upgraded.

Is it petrol or electric? I've just finished building my HPI super nitro rally, really pleased with the results, but already looking for more power, must wait till the engines run-in good and proper tho...

Something I wanted to ask, has the glowfuel cars got a reverse gear on them ?

Cool

Thanks, it's got a 1.5 size engine, does about 40 out of the box, but with a few uprades can hit about 70!!

Kit was £280 inc engine. + starter bits & radio came to about £360

Most glow cars don't come with reverse, but some do (TMaxx I think)

Looks sweet, where do you use it ? (or where will you be using it rather)

I've got a Bergonzoni Chrono with 3.5 race-spec engine and boy is it a screamer.. too loud + fast to be used around the streets.

What surprised me about it was how configurable it is, adjustable shocks, camber, toe-in etc. It's even got front + rear disc brakes, with adjustable bias etc. I just need to find somewhere that I can use the flipping thing !

That sound's like a beast!
Got some disused ground near me thats got dirt, mud, small jumps, woods, tarmac, bit of everything really. Still running it in so cannot use full throttle yet. Still have to give it a bit of a squirt every so often tho' (Can't help it) It's not too noisy with the tuned pipe that comes with it, so hopefully no-one will complain when its on full chat.
