Default 06/07 STi - Standard ride height?

Hi

Would those of you with the above cars (incl spec Ds) with standard suspension, wheels, etc please advise the front and rear ride heights?

Height to wheel arches would be good.

I'm told mine has been lowered and I am interested in knowing by how much as I have bottomed out a couple of times which never happened on my Classic which had a lower ride height.

Just to kick off mine are F-665 R-635

Std ride hide measured from centre of wheel to the bottom of the arch is:

Graham, its important to use the wheel centre rather than ground as the reference so that tyre wear, size and pressure have no effect on the measurement.

Thanks guys

Good point re centre of the wheel - Just quickly checked mine again and it is approx:

Front: 360
Rear: 330

Which appears quite significantly lower than standard.

I have the AST Stage 3 kit fitted and it was mentioned to me that they had lowered the car a little and I am not comfortable (with respect to handling rather than comfort) travelling over bumpy roads as it tends to bounce around a bit.

Not knowing the specific setup of the ASTs with regard to springs, bump stops, etc, just wondering whether I would gain suspension travel if I had the ride height increased back to standard?

Unfortunately that is impossible to answer without being very specific about what springs etc you have. Unfortunately you're unlikely to fix your problem without getting up close and personal with your suspension, and I can understand why after paying £xxxx for your ab-fab coilovers that you would be reluctant to do that.

Raise the suspension up - thats the beauty of coilovers but remember that your geometry changes when you do that.

Might actually be 325 if I measured it accurately!

Gap between arch and top surface of tyre (RE070 @ 6k miles) is around 15mm.

Having just come back from a week away, perhaps I should have measured it when fully laden with roof box and passengers. I can't help thinking that if it was much lower than it is now then I would have noticed.

See Post 4 of https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...ml#post7108765 for further details - responded by both you and DuncanG interestingly.

I'm now wondering if I have a secondary problem as no-one seems to be having the problems I am. It's a pity Powerstation are a couple of hours away from me and so not too easy to get to.

Its worth raising the suspension by 15mm to see the effect, but that might not actually give you more bump travel in the spring. A given spring only has so much range and once you get to that limit raising the suspension higher stops giving you more bump travel, but to find if you are at that limit needs a lot more info.

When you say, you have bottomed out - are you meaning the car has hit the ground?

As Duncan says (weirdly I am a Duncan G aswell ) I would take it up 15mm to see whether this fixes it.

Mine is set at 345 mm rear and seems spot on to me from both visual and handling point of view.

The main issue is feeling the suspension (mainly front) hit the bump stop especially when one wheel hits a bump or those single pad sized speed humps or pothole alone. Normal speed humps seem OK, but not perfect, which I put down to both springs working together to raise the front of the car.

This seems to result in the slightly uncontrolled ride when pushing a bit on bumpy roads.

With respect to your question re my reference to bottoming out in post 1, I was specifically referring to the car hitting the ground a couple of times.

At the moment, I do not want to play with anything myself as I wouldn’t want to interfere with the original settings.

As requested

Front approx 365 - 370 mm

Rear approx 355 - 360 mm

It's dark and wet so sorry i can't be more accurate, they're not far out though.Had to do it now or i'd forget

I'm running 18s so will be ever so slightly different than your standard 17's.

Just looked at yours and it does look very low fella.

we had already told you that it was too low

what are you trying to find out now?

Speak to Powerstation re the AST's - they are too low.

Shall I say it again ... they are too low

Yes, I took on board they were too low but as I was on the way to Powerstation the following day to sort out my problem I thought I would ask the question how low the Prodrive springs take you.

I now report that my problem appear to have been sorted and I am a hppy bunny. In fact after driving home it seems Curtis has done a fantastic job in sorting out my problem as my wobbly bits no longer wobble. Havn't had the chance to check the ride height yet but I believe they went up 15-20mm along with some other tweaks.
