Well had my new lights fitted last week - mainly thanks to Mike Wood @ Prodrive for his comments a while back...all I can say is...

"**ck Me! Day Light!!!"....

They are awesome!...plus the 120W PIAA bulbs in the main headlights, I can now actually see where I am going...

Thanks Mike...top sales pitch a few months back...bloody expensive lights....but well worth it!

Wasn't it the "force" that caused the incident with the afore mentioned tree ?

The candles I have only throw light a distance of a few feet....which is a little scarey on dark damp nights in the middle of the Yorks. Dales.

Obviously my force receptor (aka my bottle) is giving up....

I've always been a happy P1 owner...its just certain other things that rattle me ...and it normally only happens early in the morning...

The car is awesome, the lights are awesome...the grip, well thats down to driver error I guess...

Thanks again for the initial comments re the lights...the only trouble now is....when you dip them, its like driving blind !!

Well, I've just placed an order with my
dealer for a set of Gas Discharge Driving
Lights for my P1.

But I refuse to pay them the £150.00 they
have quoted me to fit them.

I'm going to do this myself as I can't see it being any harder than fitting a set of Cibies.

They come with very comprehensive fitting instructions. If you can read English you will be able to do it yourself!! If you can't, there's lots of pictures

I've recently fitted a pair of Hella FF1000 170mm gas discharge lights on my MY99.

Yes they are REAL bright...just make sure you don't dazzle the LAW

Now you can see why I'm opposed to spending another £150.00 on top for fitting them...

sorry to be the one to complain BUT...

what is the wattage of these bulbs both dipped and main beam?? 60/55W is standard LEGAL UK. I hate to moan but it isn't clever to dazzle the poor person coming the other way when they only have their standard "candle power" bulbs.

it aint big and it aint clever (try asking an olderly friend/relative with cataracts).

sith - the only sensible solution.

sorry to appear to be a miserable git but you should consider other road users.

p.s. - i'm off to grow a beard, quit my job and go self sufficient!

p.p.s. my accord type R has self levelling, xenon bulbs - and i think i would be better off leaning out of the window with a maglite!

Looks like I'll be joining the ranks of the 'Schofield set' soon too (although mine isn't a P1). They're the only ones to quote me under £1,500!!! Shame it'll only be for a couple of months until I hopefully sell the STI...

How does the gas discharge lights compare to the PIAA ones???? Does it justify the extra money?

IMHO the GD lights for the P1 give off a better driving light that the PIAA Spots I had on my MY98 PPP...they provide a much wider spread and an overall better colour of light (if you know what I mean)...as I have said above - awesome!!!

Ideal for those evening trips through the Dales and over the Moors

Its the main beam power I'm really interested in. Dipped can stay as they are now. Its just across the Yorks Dales fells I'd rather be able to pick out the sheep kipping on the road before mincemeat one.
