Octane rating - technical Question?

Can someone explain to me in technical terms the difference on the engine between using say RON 95 and RON 97

I believe there was a thread on this some time ago but cant find it

I know the basics but want to know it inside out

Essay to include ignition advance, boost levels and knock, efficiency of burn levels, combustion chamber, etc

Well you did ask!!! Just a light 40 odd pages - and that's only part 3 remember. Seriously though it's the best source of all things combustion I've ever found on the net (will give you a test next week). David
