Default New Mustang - alternative to Scoobys and Evos

Saw a dream looking car yesterday - bright yellow 06 Mustang, 10000 miles £20k - what a wow factor.

Anyone any experience of these cars and how do they compare to Evos and Scoobys.

Very close to considering a trade in and then I saw Top Gear last light that didn't seem to rate them that much.

But they certainly look the business.

Advice would be appreciated

Handle better than I expected for a US made tug boat with a beam axle and a lump of Iron under the bonnet.

Strap a supercharger on and have 550 bhp and some serious fun.

Sounds better than a scoob too (with the right exhaust anyway)

i test drove a monaro 500 and there is NO way i would ever buy one unless you want to end up in a hedge, the thing spun the wheels in every gear very very fast and twitchy, i was doing 20 coming off the roundabout and just touched the throttle and ended up looking a right tit as the back end started having a fit, ill stick with the scoobs

With all the weight up front and a big block v8 turning the rubber at the rear end you've got to have a bit of respect for it......

But that's half the fun isn't it.

If it's just lots, and lots of V8 muscle you want then it's the car to go for. Won't be as fast as a scooby in any respect, but still very cool in it's own right.

Then again, if you can afford it, you could always go for a Shelby Mustang...

Think they top 500bhp and hit 60 in under 4.5 secs, serious serious muscle. They also make old people prolapse just by looking at them... always a bonus, unless they're inside the car.......

They look and sound awesome. On the negative side, not really that capable on our roads and dearer than Scoobs.

If your not going on track then with todays traffic it's a nice cruiser with the V8 noise

The Rouse Mustang is the one to have.

If only Ford bothered to make a Right hand drive model they might not be in so much ****.

A relative of mine has just bought one and he thinks its the dogs its only the V6 version, but it still sound really nice but its too much with the steering wheel at the wrong side of the car, you can't have too much fun when you need a co pilot to tell you when its safe to overtake.
But he only paid 16.5k for a 55 plate with 10k on the clock with the shaker system and leather etc not a bad deal but its no rally car its a cruiser for the over 50 brigade re living ther youth thinking they are Steve Mcqueen.
Americans can't make cars they make straight line muscle jobs with no sense on what it takes to make an all-rounder if you look at the Dodge Viper Vs Z4M coupe on clarksons DVD.

i had one of the first ones in the UK, i did a personal import from Pembroke Pines Ford, i collected it from Southahmpton and new by Birmingham it would be up for sale

steering feel on centre was great but then dulled away and was non linear and the steering torque build up felt like the wheels were steering up a kerb

the brakes were shocking, it pulled about if you did anything like poke them at motorway speeds and the pedal feel was nil

the gearbox was pants, i had a manual and if you took it past 5k you couldnt get the next gear as the engine took ages to drop its revs off before you could select the next cog, and the diff whined like a 4 year old brat

looked ace, turned heads, mine was silver with red leather, sounded ok, needed bigger pipes, but as a drivers car utter pants

if you want the lights doing properly i got mine through the SVA making it look like a proper mustang, i had the outer of the 3 bars as the indicators using a special pack of orange LEDS, the centre band as brake and tail and the inners as the fogs, so no tacky stuck on reversing and fog lamps

but my advise is dont do it unless you want to change the brakes and suspension and wheels for lower profile jobbies
