Ok, so I bought a PC with XP home on a while ago, and now want to re-install all the software.. can you tell me a way to find the license key for installation?

 

There should be a sticker on the side of the PC case which will have the details.

Failing which try Belarc software (google will find it easily) which will identify all the software installed on your system.

 

There is no sticker, that's why I'm asking if there is a way.. will belarc give me the key to install windows then?

 

do you have the receipt still or any of the documentation you got with it

they were on the receipt on my pc

 

Will have a look, but we are talking about almost 4 years ago now, if not more. The label is not on the case or on the little Windows booklet.

I had to phone MS tonight to get my XP re-activated, said I have done it too many times, or more than one PC has it installed

DOH, of course it does, its the MSDN subscriber download version, it comes with 10 licenses (not VLK, thats a seperate one ) anyway got activated in the end

 

I was trying to find the key before starting the install, I thiought that far ahead fortunately. They both worked a treat and I now have the keys again, also for all the other software installed thanks to Belarc - All printed out and on a single page

and it gave me a different ket to the one on the sticker on my laptop
how is that then?
