Got my MY02 about 3 weeks ago and the front brakes have been screeching just before the car comes to a halt ever since ... anyone had similar problems or do you think it's some dirt stuck between the brakes and and disc ?

My new scooby is 5 weeks old and, soon after I got it, I noticed that the brakes were making a grinding noise. Never having owned a car like this I took it back to the dealership's workshops and asked them to check it out. They reported back that there were no problems with the brakes - just hard brake pads making some noise on the discs.

If you think there is a genuine problem then you should take the car back to where you bought it and get them to check it out - at least then if they give you the all clear the responsibility lies with them.

Have the same problem, the usual dealer waffle of dirt between disc and pad, particulary bad when cold but still evedent when warm, but they now agree (dealers)
its an added extra with new WRX cars.

added feature ?? - no way can that be !! ... you mean Subaru added that feature in to deliberately annoy drivers ?.
might have to get the dealer to get me some new brake pads or discs ...

Blaster is your car a UK sourced model or a Parrallel import, they said that the Euro cars may have different compound pads fitted
but it wont cause any problems with the discs becoming scoured.
Mine is still giving brake graunch after 5000 miles.(Euro car)

Question

ZIPPY

Mine's an euro import ... the noise is bloody annoying ... !!! so the noise is due to the different compound pads ?

Cheers ...
