Hi guys,

Have a clifford alarm system with remote start on an old classic of mine and its been soo long since I used it that I cant remember how to use this facility. Can anyone explain how to use the remote start with the 4 button remote ? Cant find my cliiford instructions either.
All help appreciated !

There should be 1 star and 2 star buttons on the fob, while the car is running, press both buttons at the same time and the indicators should flash then stay on as a solid orenge light, u then know that it has been set, get out of thre car take the keys with you, arm the car and it will shut down. I can't remember which of the star buttons you press to restart it on your return tho.

P.S that how I remember it on my G4 that I had fitted to my old Pug 106.

tbh it all depends on how the intellistart has been setup.

normally it is * and boot key to set, then * to start, but as i said depends on how your clifford dealer has set the alarm up.


Worst case scenario if you cant get it to work, buy the software and cable (available on ebay) then you can set the alarm to however you want.

Make sure its set up correct my last car wasnt and it crashed into a wall when i tried to remote start it (it was still in gear and didnt know it!)

Before switching your engine off press ** then switch ignition off then lock doors with remote. To restart your engine press* then open doors with remote, put key in ignition and turn two clicks and off you jolly well go. :luxhello: :luxhello:

I'm bound to get shot down here for being a kill-joy, but for anyone in the UK considering a remote start system I feel you should be aware that the addition of such a system to your vehicle will invalidate any Thatcham approval that you have for your existing security system.
In addition to this, "leaving a vehicle unattended with the engine running in a public place" contravenes the UK "Motor Vehicle Contstruction and Use Regulations", so its use could also leave you liable to prosecution.

Unfortunately these issues are seldom mentioned with the product, as such devices are intended for non EU markets where Thatcham and European legislation do not apply.

If you leave it running and the doors open and someone jumps in it to steal it they dont get very far without the use of the key :thumb:

Personally I would ask the Insurer where they stand with this product before it gets installed!

Because as SigmaSam has already posted adding a Separate Remote Start unit to your vehicle will render the Thatcham approval of any existing Cat 1 alarm system fitted to the vehicle void (If a Cat 1 system is already installed) Which the standard Sigma M30 system is! and if the security system looses it's Cat 1 status - effectively from an insurance point of view there is no security system then installed on the vehicle. Also you would find yourself in the situation where you would be contravening 95/54 EC regulations, the fact that leaving “an unattended vehicle in a public place with the engine running” contravenes the current UK “Construction and Use Regulations”. Remote start units are usually manufactured for non-UK markets hence in countries where the above regs would not need to be met along with this product not affecting a security systems category rating such a unit would be fine, but I doubt very strongly that an insurance company would welcome such a product being installed on any UK vehicle.
