Cleaning the MAF

Whats the best way to clean the MAF on the early cars and whats the best thing to clean it with? While the ignition system is having a going over may as well do this

I normally use carb cleaner, I think thats what most will recomend as well.

carb cleaner or brake fluid make sure its dry before you put it back in.
