Default Good Quote from A-Plan?

Hi everyone, quick question for you.

I've just been quoted £719 with £350 excess for a 2003 STI PPP worth £15k. I'm 35, 6 years NCB and its based on me doing 14K a year with 6K as business miles. Usual tracker, alarm etc fitted.

Do you think this is a good price or could they do better?

Seems pretty good to me

I'm with A-Plan also, and they didn't specify that a tracker was needed, so you should be able to save yourself the subscription on that too

They gave me the impression that they would prefer it if a tracker was fitted. I think i would like to have one though for the peace of mind. Its only £10 a month for the subscription so it not too bad. I've only tried A-Plan so far, i'll give a few others a ring as well.

When i spoke to the guys at A-Plan they said it all depends on where abouts in the country you are as to whether or not you need tracker maybe a call to the guys would comfirm that .

I tried a good few websites and compnays but A-Plan matched my best quote and cut the excess down AND got me protected no claims at no extra cost !!!

Not too bad but i pay £750 with A-Plan for my TSL333 and im only 26 with 5 yrs ncd and parking on the street.
Depending on your area and if its garaged, since your 10 years older, have more ncd and an unmodified car, could get them down a bit??

Just be quoted £600 for a 53 plate WRX. Think i might be calling at garage to finalise the deal now i know that the insurance is not much more than my cooper s.

Well it does seem that i might be able to get them down a bit. The guy at A-Plan seemed to suggest that the price they quoted me was a "cold price" and then also suggested that they may be able to get it lower if pressed a bit.

I've also asked Greenlight for a quote but they said they were unable to quote me because of some bad claims over the last 2 years! My area isn't rough at all, in fact i'm in one the better parts of Blackburn so i couldn't believe it.

Never mind, i've got a few others to try but it seems A-Plan are the best bet. I've also got a quote from Subaru Insued but they were £124 more than A-Plan.

Ditto & my specific area (within W. Yorks) is a lowish category according to the police listings.
Edited to add that after a pm from Tony I now understand their position, still hard to take that I'm being lumped in with the general uninsured/untaxed/un mot'd/no licence chavved up car owners who frequent my lovely city.

I tried Subaru insurance what a waste of space they are, you would think they would be at least competitive!!
I am with A-Plan they were very helpful to me & beat my best quote by £70.

The guy on the end of the phone at Subaru Insured sounded like he really couldn't be arsed giving me the quote. There doesn't seem to be many insurance companies to rival the quote i got from A-Plan. Who else can i try?

Maybe Greenlight need a caveat that they will only quote if you live South of Watford gap?
Greenlight are were unable to give me a quote as good as Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels and I live in not a bad part of Essex, only 10 miles from their head office (Brentwood), with full no claims, no convictions, no accidents and a slightly modified UK car and me being 36 years old.

I ended up getting a quote from Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels for over £200 less than my previous insurers, and that included like for like on my mods.

HTH

Andy

Edited for accuracy.

Greenlight were slightly dearer than A plan for me. I have asked how much if i subscribe to my tracker and they said no cheaper. I am going to be moving about 5 miles in aprox 9 months time and A plan said it would be in the region of £380 due to the area. What a result!!!!

I'm going to ask them to quote me on an 03 JDM STI (assuming all others things are the same. eg mileage, price etc) and see what they come up with, i'll let you know shortly.

Well i got the quote and it was £10 higher than a STI PPP at £729. I thought it would go up a lot more than that. So a JDM it is then.

hi there. havnt tried a-plan yet but the best ive come across is "www.insuresupermarket.com/motor" . its a broker site and beats the price you'd normally get from the sites directly. got quoted 1k on my sport special bearing in mind im 20 and have a claim under my belt. it definately puts things into perspective when i was paying £1160 for my 1.2 16v clio i had previously, lol.

Thats very good! I pay £950 with A-Plan. My car is a TSL333 garaged every night, i'm 32 and haven't had any accidents (Until this year which weren't my fault).
I also live in a quiet neighbourhood.

Had my renewal from Direct Line, and they had put my premium up by £110 for fitting Prodrive Springs.... I'd been with them for atleast 5 years, and now I'm off to Aplan as I've been quoted £429 for a 52 WRX with all mods.
