There was a rumour that BMW buy certain cars when they get too cheap (eg 7 series) to stop them falling into the hands of people who would "lower the brand image".

Any truth in this, or just misinformation, rumour and heresay

What did that yellow one start off as? It looks like the front half of an 840/850 with the back of a 635.

 

It all was quite entertaining until I saw his SA-16 rifle and personal weapon collection.

I think the yellow Frankenbeemer is a 6 - the side windows, roof lines, mirrors etc. are spot on. It's even got the little jutty out bit in front of the mirrors where the window trim fastens on. God knows what they did to the back window and bonnet though - even before the 8 nose cone (including pop up lights - nice touch ) were grafted on.

It's certainly been clubbed heavily with an ugly stick!

Such a thing did happen in 1984-5.

I was working for a company who administered the BMW Warranties and was down in Bracknell working through an automatic interface with the BMW Dealer network.

I was told that the whole range was getting a price rise to stop the 3 series cars getting in to the hands of 'the wrong sort of people'.

This was at the behest of the 6/7 Series drivers.

Wait until they see Birdy they'll want a 50% price increase.
