Default Oem and aftermarket discs

Are aftermarket discs any different to originals except for grooves and holes ? I can't see how they could be better or worse....?

I bought some Black Diamond Discs and pads, and they are miles better than the standard ones.

from what i've been told grooved ones resist fade more - which seems to be the case with mine

Thanks for the replies,

Stockcar, whats a good source ? I normally go for original type discs and usually get delivered 'japparts' or 'quiton hazel' (spelling) and am more than happy with them for the price circa £70. Would I notice any improvement in braking performance with so called 'uprated' discs ?

Thanks
