Having owned one, a CTR, and driven the other. IMHO there is nothing in it. The LCR would move away a bit quicker, but once the CTR is in the vtec zone it would reel it in and top out a bit in front. But!!!!!! the CTR is just to noisy for an everyday car Well,..........it was for me..

Having owned both, this is my verdict.....
0-120mph is virtually identical and then the LCR will stretch it a little bit when both cars popped into 6th!
Also easier to reach top speed in LCR than it is in the CTR. (Book 150 vs 146)

Clio only good upto 100/110 and then CTR/LCR will leave it for dead.
Scooby WRX?? Not sure about, definitely quicker than the clio top end but i would say behind CTR/LCR
225bhp through 4wd doesn't help when your accelerating through and beyond 100! Probably only about 140-150 @ wheels as opposed to 170-190 for CTR/LCR

cause clio would be on way back from tesco and have a full boot of shopping
straight line lcr cuts the mustard

Kindah silly thing to say really, comparing a tuned car to stock.....remap the CTR then back even again.
In real world terms nothing in it, the CTR is a bit more raw and focused, the Seat a bit more relaxed with quicker in gear acceleration times. But with more body roll a little less effective in the twisties.
A case of choose your poison really, For day to day living the Leon is a tad easier to live with, the CTR will be a bit more fun.
All I know is this, they both look best in black, (not counting the JDM CTR of course...)
Oh as for top speed I managed 152 mph
in my civic at Brunters (Daytron).

Turbo vs NA, you will always get more bang for buck tuning the turbo, and thats the point of the comment - if you are looking buy one and possibly want more, you need to weigh up the tunability of both cars too. 1k on an LCR vs 1k on a Civic and the LCR will be the easy victor...........
Hmmm fair point, however do not underestimate the improvement you can get out of a K20 with a K-Pro. Have seen 13.9 seconds 1/4 down the pod, remember the power increase is decent but unlike increasing the power of the turbo you are not also going to up the torque by so much that traction is an issue. I have found that in mine though I am running around 280 at the fly, I am only pushing 169flbs so getting the power down is simple, also you have so much more throttle response thus improving all round drivability throughout the revrange....
hey, I almost sound like I know what I am talking about, despite all the wine I have just quaffed.
Or maby not

Yes, both best in black - we just got a black LCR, and sister in law has a black CTR - both great looking cars, but the LCR looks better.
The LCR is very quick. Allegedly a 210, have heard talk of them being closer to 230 standard - certainly seems that (previously owned 200bhp ibiza cupra r, 260 bhp scooby and 310+bhp VR4 - and the LCR in a straight line compares favourably to all).
Very impressed with it all round really - looks cracking, handles very well, very positive steering response and firm handling, once the P Zeros are replaced with F1s it should handle nicely.
Brakes - obviously excellent.
Very pleased with it - so far i'd recommend the LCR.
And yes, tuneability is cheap cheap cheap....£500 gets it up to 260-280bhp, same torque.

I feel I might be able to give a fairly unbiased opinion. As I had my CTR for 3 yrs and 100,000+ miles and have had my 225 LCR (Revo'd) nearly a year now...
Performance wise... Standard for standard, there's very little between them (210 a bit slower) But I would say my CTR would have pipped it in a straight line, definatly. Now the LCR is re-mapped it's a different story obviously. But it still wouldn't MURDER the CTR.
Both great cars, for different reasons. I would have both sat on the drive if I could...

Give a bowl of rice pudding 20bhp and its power to weight ratio is 100's bhp/ton however its still ONLY got 20bhp so wont get much above 40mph no matter how light it is.
This isnt everything though,
gearing,
aerodyamics
all come into it.
my clio had 145 side by side with a golf gti (new one) both flat out their top speed is 145 on paper, so they arent that bad in 5th really are they? as for the ctr/lcr argument, i test drove both last week back to back and the leon felt quicker without a doubt! (225) i was deciding between wrx,ctr and lcr and after driving them all the leon is the better car! (and seemed fastest! roll on the chip)

I think the LCR will always feel quicker due to turbo, and the fact you have to wring the CTR's neck getting it into VTEC zone, that it may not feel so quick, especially if you're new to driving it.
I found the CTRs driving position a bit low, but to be honest as I was just having a spin in my brother in laws car didn't take the time to move it much.
Anyway - original question was which is quicker - seems to be in a straight line LCR maybe shades it, also probably braking wise too. But the CTR is quicker on a track. Yes? All agreed?
Both great cars, do different things well - prefer a long journey in an LCR, prefer to blat around a track in a CTR.
