View Full Version : Nurburgring Visit June 29th - July 2nd
Stevie 23 April 2001, 22:47 Definitely up for that, a twin room for myself and Pike ( STUPID BOY!)
I can either go in the car or van. As we are already 2 people if there are others in the West Mids who want a lift this is fine. If not, as I do not intend using the car, I will take the van and then people can throw tools, spares, tyres, beer et al in the back.
I will definitely be taking a full compliment of sarcastic comments if this is acceptable. Also, I will travel by ferry.
If you want a lift or some spares need carrying, let me know.
Mkhan 23 April 2001, 22:53 DAMN DAMN DAMN
Can't make this trip .....will make the September one for sure ....will some of you guys also be going to the September trip as well????
Hey Aero thanks for the vid..I will sort you out some beers if you are going to the Sept one..... nice lap with Tony btw..

johnfelstead 24 April 2001, 12:11
quote:
...smelly felly - you gotta admit to having your untimely demise cross your mind as well chap?? ..... if not u have got balls like water melons and full credit to you

Nope, i never think like that when driving as that means your using up mental capacity thinking about something that wont help you.
I am experienced enough to be able to face situations like that and think clearly rather than **** myself. Its nothing to do with the size of your balls, its just logic and knowledge being aplied.
Stuff like that doesnt scare me, whats the point in being scared? Then again, i am used to thinking rather than panicking, i had good training in my youth, i was flying gliders solo at 16 and you learn to control potentialy dangerous sudden occurences. I was trained by the RAF so had probably the best training posible. At the end of the day you dont really have a choice, either you think your way out of the problem or you die, thats certainly the case in a glider, concentrates the mind somewhat. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
The problem with this is that it's hard to find something that is exciting, i found skydiving boring for example, maybe i need help? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL
Mark - ChrisB was spot on for the mount.
Toying with the idea of DV cam next time, but still need brakes and things http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Stuart Knight 25 April 2001, 00:08 I'm up for it. Does anybody know if my mate's race bike would be allowed on ie. does the vehicle have to be road legal??
Tim W 25 April 2001, 13:29 Sorry Stuart, but you have to be road legal to run round the 'Ring on Public days http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
95 db noise limit too, and you have to be on R rated tyres...my search for cheap R rated intermediates is on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Tony Quinn 25 April 2001, 13:36 Stuart,
Your mate won't be allowed to ride a race bike. The Nurburgring does require vehicles to be road legal because it IS a public road. All usual road rules apply. There are one way street signs everywhere and there are even speed limits in certain sections. If you get into an accident with someone else the Police will be called. Also you should remember that you are only supposed to overtake on the left.
Stuart Knight 25 April 2001, 15:33 Bugger, we are looking for somewhere to run the bike in after its engine rebuild prior to the Manx in August. (yes I know the TT has been cancelled, but no word on the Manx yet!)
Stevie 25 April 2001, 16:03 I think you can MOT a bike for daylight use only and you only need a brake light. And borrow a Q plate, or any other number plate for that matter. The fines for an incorrect No plate are not high, allegedly.
MattOz 25 April 2001, 17:10 Hopefully taking the RSV-R to the Ring in June http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif. I'll have to take my standard can too, because I don't believe that the official Aprilia Titanium Race jobbie on there at the moment will pass the noise test. I'll give it a go though! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Matt
Stevie 25 April 2001, 17:21 Matt
Taking a spare exhaust on a bike. Should make an interesting photo on the autoroute!!
I guess you have it's transportation arranged but if you are struggling I will be going past Coventry on the way down. Pop it in, so to speak.
Guys,
does that mean, if I have worn tyres, I could get into trouble with the cops if they stop me?
Thanks
Sonu

Yup. Don't pack your slicks.
johnfelstead 26 April 2001, 12:11 sonu, why do you think i was so concerned about my tyre wear rate. I ate them. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Matt, you don't stand a chance in hell of getting that silencer past a noise test, even on tickover. That things not a silencer, its a megaphone!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL
JoelR 29 April 2001, 04:08 Count me in for the Jun 29 trip to the 'Ring!
I'm working out the details to turn this into a Euro vacation with my girlfriend, starting with the Ring weekend.
I've got copies of my video footage ready to send over to Stef in miniDV format. Mr. Felstead, your copies in VHS are in the works, so be patient and quit pestering poor Mr. Squire! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Joel
