Hi all,

I went to Eclipse Motorsport in Wallisdown yesterday to have a Dyno run. What can I say, they are excellent! They even gave me a lift home between runs!

Anyway, I was chatting to the guys down there and asked if they would be interested in a group rolling road session for a discounted price. The normal price is £60 + vat, but im sure we can get a bit nocked off that. They were very keen to do is so we need at least 8 - 10 people.

The road is state of the art (Bosch) and one of only 2 in the country. What worried me about roads is holding the car at max revs for long periods of time. With this one we only took mine up to 6500 rpm and it is only for a couple of seconds, if that. So it is quite healthy. Fans etc are used and you get 2 runs.
At the end you get a very comprehensive chart for power / torque and all the other parameters.

Even if you have no mods it's well worth doing as a health check to see if the car is putting out what it should. I think it would be a good laugh and we can have a few beers after! It would be a Saturday in the next few weeks.

Stick your name on here if you are interested and we can take it from there.

'spose so

One of their mechanics left recently and claimed they were not working on road cars anymore, must admit, the bloke that was left was the more friendly/helpful and less 'wide boy' of the two.

Chuck and I looked into this a while back and thought that £60 +VAT was a bit steep though How much do PE and PS charge?

PE charge £45+vat for a single car but if you check the bulletin board you will see that I am organising a shoot-out at PE on the 18th Aug.If I can get 25 cars it should cost under £30 so mail me and lets get this fully booked.
Cheers Paul.

Fair point on the price but as I said they will reduce it if we get enough people...

I would aim for £45. Also for quite a few of that are in Bournemouth it's ideal, as getting to PE or others from here would probably cost £50 in petrol!

Rich, the guy there is ex Subaru (John Piper) and the other mechanic built one of their rally Evo 6's so they know their stuff.

Any others interested?

Hi Mark & all,
I'll tentatively say yes, it'll depend on the date though.
I wouldn't be interested in going to any other road due to to distance and hence fuel cost!
Just out of interest mark, what bhp did you get before the d/p, and then after?
Colin,
Got those brakes on yet?

Hi all,

How does the Sat 28th July sound? If people prefer a later date, we could go for Sat 18th August (im on holiday inbetween) How's everyone fixed?

Hi Ron,

I got 232 BHP after the downpipe was fitted.
Only a few HP difference which was a bit odd but the difference on the road is unbelieveable! The peak torque is 311 NM at 3850 rpm which is bloody low, and you can feel it.

Come on we need more people!

Dohhhhhhhh!

I've just paid full price on Saturday! But i can say they know their stuff.I got 234hp and 308lbs from my MY99 with scoobysport backbox and ITG air filter.

They were also able to detect a dodgy boost control valve which caused the power delivery to be a bit lumpy between 3-4000rpm.
Strangely the car seems to be a bit smoother now though.Any ideas?

Pete

Sounds like a good idea but if we can arrange a rough date I'll be able to be more definite.

Late August would be ok mind you....

Ok shall we say 28th July as a date? If not 25 August looks good, a bit further away to plan as well.

Who's definately in?? Once I get numbers I can confirm the price, but I will aim for £45 incl vat.

Hi all,
I'm John from Eclipse/Martello. Some of you may know me from my days at Chapelgate. As you are probably aware Mark Bennett is trying to organise a Rolling Road meet here possibly on Saturday 18/08, if we can get 10 people interested the cost will be £45 inc VAT & if we can get 12 or more the most powerful car of the day will go free! As well as doing a power run a couple of our tecchies will be around to offer advice if needed. So come on guys what are you scared of, that Marks car is putting out more power than yours!!
If you are interested either contact myself or Mark here or call me on 01202 580011

I think that if Eclipse are keen to get a web airing then a banner ad shouldn't be too far away

I'll be up for the 18th.

John - Do Eclipse still service road cars? I had a letter from an 'ex' employee stating that that was not the case...
