Question

I turn 25 at the end of August, I've timed everything so that at the begining of September my insurance for my Calibra runs out, the car will be sold and the finance payed off and I'll be 25 with 5 years no claims and a clean license.
My aim is to get a 97-98 WRX import but I'm finding it difficult to get a decent insurance quote (1250 for a UK turbo is the cheapest). Most of the insurance companies I've phoned don't insure imports or won't quote for a car I don't yet own.
The problem is, do I get the car then find that no one will insure me on it or just give up on the dream?

Also, is there a list of insurance companies that I could try? If not, whats Keith Micheals phone number (seems my best bet)

Is anyone reading this who's 25, and has a WRX?, if so who are you insured with and how much?

Cheers
Matt

I saw that site a few months ago but lost the link. Cheers.

It's a bit out of date now but it does have the phone numbers that I need.

Thanks for the quick reply Gavin.

Cool

And they cover track days too
Although they don't cover you 3rd party on other cars - not that you'd want to drive another car.

Matt, give Tesco Insurance a ring on 0845-300-4400, I might be older but I only paid £633* F/Comp 5yrs NCD, no points, they do not require any form of Tracker but a minimum Cat2 immobiliser with cert helped.

(* Single Payment, they do monthly if preferred)

That is well strange!... will phone them again today just to confirm but the woman said don't do import unless UK spec and equivalent model can be bought here... ?

Struggling at the moment guys... (i have CAT 1 cobra)

Adrian Flux £1596 (no tracker needed)
Keith Michaels £1545 (no tracker, £100 excess(good) )
Tesco £1368 protected £1175 not protected
(must have tracker!)
Bell Direct who I'm with at the moment won't quote me for another 7-14 days even though my renewal date is less than month away!!!!

John at Schofield is phoning me today with quote.....I'm hoping he'll swipe away the madness and save me !!! come on John I know you can do it!!!

Should also say was paying £1300 last year (was 24) with Bell Direct (protected)

Matt.

cheers, sorted the Barclays confusion - they definitely DON'T do
imports now. Woman I spoke to said they recently merged with some other insurance co. (forgot name began with W i think!) and so she thought that their policy must've changed as of 1st November.

Anyway - sorted out a really good quote/policy with SCHOFIELDS so unless Bell Direct can perform a miracle (unlikely as they can't even offer me a renewal quote for another 2 weeks and my policy expires 6th December!! )...I'll be going with them.
SCHOFIELD 0113 250 0377

cheers,
Matt
