Default Need advice

Hi all,
I currently own a 2003 Honda Civic Type -R which I have had from new, I have always loved this car but was intrested in changing to a Subaru as they are now offering the PPP kit with each new buy.

I was in Donellys on monday and got the test drive in both the WRX and the STI and I was fairly imprested with the handeling of the car. The std wrx did not blow me away but the STi with the prodrive kit on was unreal.

Can anyone on here give me some advice I know it will be a bit on sided on here but anyway.

As i am getting about £11,000 for a trade in it should soften the blow but how much can I expect a STi to depriciate in a couple of years of owing. How reliable are they and what are the pros and cons of owning.

Also who are the best dealers in N. Ireland.

Thanks

Default Dealers....

There is only one that I can recommend - Eastwoods Lisburn. They have had the Scooby dealership for eons. Beachlawn in East Belfast were quite good too but have sadly lost the dealership.

Can recommend two that you should avoid, don't want to name them on here, but one is a large enterprise with glass fronted show rooms etc, the other is near Carrick. Both have stuffed up jobs on my motors. Refuse to go anywhere near them.

Do'nt know what happened with the dealer near Carrick, but I've now have 4 cars from them with the last two being STI's.
Never had a problem with them, always done a good job and always at a good price too.
When did you have your encounter with these guys, I know they went through a patch were one of the mechanics had a bad fall, and the other guys wasn't the brightest spark!

I've had very brief dealings with the large enterprise glass fronted one, and just lets say I thought it was best not to purchase from them.

Thumbs up

I bought my last STI from Donnelly in Apollo Rd.

They have done all the servicing and any work required and I have had no problems whatsoever.

Bought my first scoob from SERE, when they lost the franchise I used Eastwoods for a while but found Donnelly's easier to work with and handier to where I worked.

Scoobs do tend to depreciate maybe a little more than average, were I in your shoes, I might be tempted to get one a year or 18 months old. Do check out insurance before you commit yourself it might be more expensive than you think. Many companies don't quote for the PPP'd cars

Not sure exactly when Shaun would need to dig through the reciepts, but would be guessing at 9 months to a year back. May be a bit unfair to judge them based on one bad encounter, but its first impressions that cut it with myself.

give eastwoods a try, they dif know there stuff, will give you better trade in prices and when it comes to changing the car in the future they'll do there best to get your business.
as to after sales/servicing and warranty work i'd love to say beachlawn but they cant do warranty work now,i guess most of the dealers will offer a good service.but what i will say if you need work done by donnelly's bring your plastic they know how to charge"must be the coffee and bickies!"

If youre worried by depreciation it would prob be best to buy one 12 to 18 mths old as has been said already . .
