Thankfully its not me in the picture, they are two of West Midlands finest!!

From the brief I've seen this morning it will be concentrating on dangerous driving, (the speed enforcement will be as present as ever) and driver education rather than nabbing anything that moves for exceeding the speed limit.

I drive up & down the M40 quite a bit when I'm going to see my parents, and to be perfectly honest some of the things I have seen amaze me and are just bloody dangerous. I'm surprised more people aren't killed/seriously injured on that bit of road.

 

On the motorway you say ?

We'll thats OK then, I've now started commuting via the back roads so all my dangerous driving / speeding is done in 30 / 40 mph limits through little villages and past schools.

Best stay of those motorways, the whole motorway network is obviously an accident black spot.

The following Police Forces:
Staffordshire
Leicestershire
West Midlands
Warwickshire and
Northamptonshire

are all involved in a joint operation to crack down on dangerous driving. The focus of this operation will be on the regions motorways, and will concentrate on things like use of mobile brain-fryers etc. I also imagine that there will be a little bit of speed-enforcement carried out.

You have been warned!!

It's a shame my local force don't join in on this one... I've had the misfortune to encountered some criminally dangerous and/or negligent drivers in the area.

That isn't you modelling one of the fetching hi-vis jackets in the piccy, is it?

That is good news.

I hope that enforcement efforts are really directed towards dangerous driving, as opposed to simple speed limit enforcement.

These forces could start by addressing:

'Swooping' across three lanes of traffic to get to an exit.
Overtaking a vehicle in lane 2 by going 0.001 mph faster.
Being so close to my back bumper that I can't see the numberplate.
Looking in the rear-view mirror not more than once per 20 miles.
Sitting in lanes 2 or 3 when lane 1 is empty for miles.... is this enforceable by law? it should be .

I'm sure others will add many more.....

Even if none of these are actually offences, being pulled and given a lecture might possibly have some positive benefit.

 

Changing lanes without signalling and nearly knocking the front end off of my car seems to be more and more common on the m-ways at the moment. Then giving me evil looks because <I>obviously</I> I shouldn't have been there in the first place!!!!!

Seriously though the lane discipline is <B>APPALLING</B> in this country.

 

I had the unfortunate pleasure of driving from Dover to North Wales on the weekend and all I can say is that drivers on the Motorways, at least 80% of them really need to be re-educated.


Do they just not know that the 1st lane is allowed to be used?????

 

Don't even get me started on Motorway manners It drives me nuts that about 10% of people know how to drive on a motorway properly
