Red face MY00 Philips head unit design fault?

Yes I know I will be changing it, but until I do, I'm curious... has anyone noticed that when Automatic Frequency tracking is selected on FM, there are occasional audible blips (cut-outs) in the sound? Like once every 10 to 20 seconds? I think this is the DC632, also fitted to Legacys.

I've also noticed that AF defaults to on, you can save a station with AF off, but as soon as you manually search for the new frequency, it switches straight back on again! Also the section in the owners manual does not document the AF and other functions properly.

Anyway, saving up hard for the Alpine CDA9812RR and some Genesis comps!

I have also noticed a design fault - it sounds pap and only plays tapes!

Lol I remember it blipping in my MY00.

I have fitted the MY00 Philips in my MY03 JDM STi (trying to decide what head unit) and I don't recall it blipping every so often. In reading your post it has just reminded me and I had totally forgot about it.

Damian.

It's so fundamentally poor it should never have passed final QC before production. I had a 1980 Radiomobile which sounded better.
