Default Dead Speedo

Hi,
I was on my way home from the other half's earlier tonight and my speedometer died. Now it's telling me my speed or clocking on any miles! Any ideas how to fix it?

Ta muchly

I had this on my TypeR MY98. Initially I thought the speedo had broken and bought another dash. - No change.
Then I thought the electronic delimeter had bust, so I checked the wiring, which seemed alright.

It turned out to be the gearbox sender. I got another one second hand and tested it, by plugging it into the wring and spinning the gearbox end with a drill, Sure enough the speedo dial responded.

Remember, that my car was an MY98, which has the digital milometer and runs on electric pulse. If your car is MY98 or older, themn you have a cable drive speedo and the best check is to put a drill on the end of that.
