Just borrowed a new shape Micra of the body repair place that are doing my wife's Sharan after a neighbour reversed into it (How you miss a huge bright red people carrier I dont know) but we have the Micra until its ready, parked it next to my poorly Rover 200 BRM and it dwarfs the Rover in every dimension apart from length, the Rover looks tiny next to it and a damn sight better looking !

 

Its partly down to all the laws etc ie; higher bonnet in case you hit some poor person who should know better- who cares!
IMHO cars these days are just outright minging, bus/van like machines. (most)

Yeah, I much prefer transportation devices I can whittle out of a stick. Much better power to weight, etc. etc.

 

Yep i had one as a coutesy car once. they have massive doors and are so easy to get into.

 

It's interesting to see how cas have become bigger in all classes.

A Skoda Fabia is bigger than the original Golf which is supposed to be a size above the Fabia.

In South Africa you can actually buy a City Golf which is a MK1 Golf with Fabia interior. The dashboard just about fits perfectly.

I wonder how much of the running gear is Mk1 Golf and how much is Polo/Fabia/Ibiza.
Looks like the engines are very low spec, only 62bhp from a 1.4.

Sat in a Fabia today while getting bits for my wife's Felicia. My God it's huge!!! Massive dashboard and loads of headroom, but it feels like being in a goldfish bowl. Thought about getting one to replace the Felicia but it is almost too big now.

 

I'm planning on getting a Fabia for my wife to be. It'll be good for when we start planning a big family...
