Default Speaker sizes 96WRX import?

Hi Guys

I've recently bought a 1996 WRX Classic and the ICE leaves alot to be desired!

Running the std Jap headunit which is ok for now, can someone tell me how big the speakers are in the front doorcards?

There's no speakers in the rear at the moment, will 6x9's fit straight in?

I'm hoping the std JAp unit will support rear speakers, surely?

Thanks in advance
Steve

most people used to use infinity 605cc's in the front.
I have alpine 15or 17cm speakers in the front of mine.

Not much help, but some 6x9's fit, some don't (or at least require a bit of cutting to the metal tray to allow fitment).

I personally don't like 6x9's, and would rather fit a small woofer into the fixtures in the back, and get some decent coaxial speakers for the front, as treble in the back of the car is useless for a decent sound stage (buggers up stereo hearing if too much treble is in the back)

you will need to make a mounting bracket, as the speaker magnets will be longer - just make it from wood, just to let the speaker fit shallower in the door!

If chiark is here at any point, i'm sure he will answer better than me!
