I have a manual and if you tell me what service it is that you are doing I can let you know My other half has a mark 3 after her mark 2 got written off

 

I can lay my hands on some data for you, how many miles is it on?

 

approx 130k miles on the tacho.
servicing hasnt been to a strict schedule recently so looking at tips for oil, filters, plug spec, gap, ht's etc
drain plug location might be a good idea also

Personally I normally do plugs, filters, oil every service even if it isn't needed I'll grab the manual later and reply here

it isn't rocket science and as a mk2 golf isn't going to be worth much i would say if it isn't broke (no starting probs etc) then don't fix it.

 

Here are the service intervals according to the book.

This is the key:

a - every week
b - every 5,000 miles
c - every 10,000 miles
d - every 20,000 miles
e - every 40,000 miles
f - every 80,000 miles

c: change engine oil and filter
c: check engine for leaks

d: valve clearances (engines without hydraulic tappets)

f: cambelt change
c: cooling system check
e: engine coolant change
d: check gearbox oil
f: change gearbox oil
b: check driveshaft gaiters
c: adjust clutch
c: check spark plug gap
d: change spark plugs
c: check points gap
d: change points
c: check timing
d: check and adjust belts
c: check electric fan
c: check fuel pipes
c: check exhaust
c: check airfilter
e: change airfilter
d: change fuel filter
c: check & adjust idle speed
c: check front wheel bearings
c: check front suspension

Bit overkill if you ask me

Spark plug gap should be between 0.7 & 0.9mm

Without knowing the engine size I can't tell you much more than that

You'll need 4 litres of oil if you do a filter change
Oil needed SAE 15W/50 or 20W/50
you'll need NGK BUR6ET if you have engine code AEA & AEE
you'll need NGK BKUR5ET if you have engine code AFT
or you'll need NGK BUR5ET is you have engine code 1F
The gap for the plugs on all of these engines is between 0.7-0.9mm
