Cool

I have just helped a mate sell some My00 silver 16" wheels complete with tyres (hardly used !)

It has come to His notice that certain people are saying that the wheels and tyres are only worth £400-£450.........

Tell them to "B*g Off" and go to a dealer who will charge them £ 230 per corner (+VAT) plus rubber (+ vat).........(works out at £325 +VAT =£381.87 [X4]= £1527.50

In other words IM are ripping the **** out of it!!

If the wheels are not used then a more reasonable £550-£600 would be appropriate.

If used £500 would be better (as long as No scratches)
My mate would like to pass this info on as he feels ripped off........

Ps dont complain to me i am only the messenger.........Ohh ,one thought if you under value the parts ,you start under valuing the car !!

Dealers were selling the original wheels from cars destined to become P1's for about £400-450.

I would agree with you in "value for money" terms but as with everything, supply and demand is key.

There has been a fair number of people selling MY99/MY00 wheels on here recently... probably why they are selling at "less than the sum of the parts".

But what do I know....

Thanks

Gavin

I've just had a nice set of Prodrive PD7 17's fitted complete with Toyo Proxes (215/40/17) and a new set of bolts.

All this from a very cool Scooby Dealer for ................................................. £1000.16 FITTED !!!!!!!!!!

You can get a good deal from dealers if you try. Forget all this b0ll0cks about 16's costing the earth. A 2nd hand set of 16's is only worth £400 Tops!!!! If you pay more than that, you really are something you drink coffee out of.

If anyone wants the name of the dealer, e-mail me. They have told me they are prepared to do a similar deal minus the nuts at the same price.

Cheers
Chris

Chris,

I've ordered a set from the same dealer - you mentioned who it was when you first got your wheels. I was quoted the same price straight off without any pushing.

This seems to be a common topic now, we're seeing the same thing with people selling their cars - "It's easily worth £15k, but I've had no interest" etc. I guess it's not worth £15k then !

Anything is only worth what someone else will pay for it - and when you can get a set of brand new 17s with tyres for £1k, then £600 for some secondhand 16s doesn't really appeal, does it ?

I'm sure we've all had cars that nosedived in value shortly after buying them, but it's all part of the game. Just enjoy the car while you've got it !

I bought my MY99 16" wheels from a Subaru dealer (advertised on this board) for £400. He sold loads of sets, not just a 1 off. If Subaru dealers are asking £400, doesn't that mean that private sales should be less? (tongue firmly in cheek)

i'm probably one of those saying £400 is about right !

i bought my my00 3 weeks ago and paid my dealer £400 for a set of P1 gold alloys with rubber.

then sold my my00 16" + rubber to one of his customers for £400.

therefore i was happy cos i got the golds for nothing in effect

also the customer was only prepared to pay £400 whereas i must admit to thinking they were worth £500+

however i was happy not to have the hassle of having to store the 16"'s and then advertise them.

again supply and demand will count, as will maybe where you are in the country.

still at end of day i was happy with £400.

each to their own value i suppose ?

£400 seems to be standard dealer charge for 4 * 16" P1 golds ?

Just bought 4 MY99 wheels & tyres from MarkL in Oldham (2000 miles & mint condition) for £375. He sells Alloys so he should know what they are worth. Both sides very happy with the deal

£500-600, you must be joking, the dealers only wanted £460 for an unused set!

Supply & demand I say

Chris
