Does anyone know where I can get some grille mesh exactly the same style as the WR1?

I've already got the grilles like so.

But I need two small pieces for a little project.

Any advice appreciated, I've already emailed Mike Wood at Prodrive but he hasn't replied yet.

Thanks

Nathan..

Nathan,

How available the mesh is might depend on a few things like, is it a special weave or off-the-shelf pattern?

Is it similar pattern to other cars - modern MGs? Bentleys? - you might be able to get hold of the first in a scrappers but the second might be a bit harder to find... :( ;)

I got some stainless steel mesh from Bethel Rhodes (http://www.bethelrhodes.co.uk/) in Keighley (bit out of your way tho' :( ) for my grille but I got plain weave rather than "crinkle stamped" the WR1 looks like. There's probaby a wireworking place a bit nearer which might be able to help.

If the mesh is a true weave then you'll need the u-section strip around it to hold it together and stop it "unravelling," AFAIR it's either welded on or rolled once in place to trap the loose ends of the wire. If the mesh is welded at each "crossing" then you don't need the strip except for show...

Hi mate
The mesh is exactly the same as what MG use, if you email this chap and tell him you want some mesh for your impreza so that it matches youe WRsport Grill he will supply you with some. He has done for me. Hope it helps mate.

YOU CAN BUY THE SAME WEAVE TYPE MESH FROM HALFORDS IN THE RIPSPEED SECTION, ABOUT £20 A SHEET!!

I looked at the mesh in Halfrauds and it was similar but not 100% the same. Well not in the store I looked in anyway.

The wire was not crinkled like the WR1 stuff is.
