Has anybody fitted Eibach springs to their new shape WRX?

I had some Eibach springs fitted to my 03 WRX on Friday and when going over sharp bumps (not low frequency ones like speed bumps) there is a clinking noise .....

Also - how do you know which springs go on the front and which go on the rear? The rear springs seem to have a rubber / plastic sheath round the bottom couple of turns whereas the fronts don't?

Any ideas?

They should be labelled front and rear ideally. Are they cable tied or anything like that to stop them moving about? This might sound silly but they may be moving because they may be shorter than the springs that were on there originally. Without seeing the car it's hard to diagnose :(

Front only and fitted by Powerstation!

The previous owner of my STI had rattle issues and they relaced to rear shocks to resolve the problem. Maybe this is similar?

This wasn't a clunk mate it was a rattle and the new shocks fixed it. I can only let you know what I was told. Bear in mind that this was on a brand new car.

I'd expect that Powerstation knew what they are doing then! ;) Is it both sides? Do the springs sit in rubber?

So let me get this right. It's metal to metal :confused: no wonder it rattles :( If you jack it up then you may be able to get underneath the springs and cable tie some rubber mat around the spring or put some underneath for the springs to sit on :)

If you want to have a look at it let me know. I can get hold of spring clamps to remove them and re-fit them with rubber if you like :)

We have had a slight knock from these before. It can be cured by fitting
plastic sleeving to the front spring lower coils. Do you want me to send you
some or if you pop in to see us we can fit it for you (foc off course)

If you get some sent to you then I'll save you the drive and do it FOC too (well maybe you can buy me a drink after);) :D What I was going to suggest was to cut up a rubber floor mat (I have one in my garage) and use that to line the platform or wrap it around the lower coil :)

Has the plastic sleeve cured the knocking?
Me and my friend are having exactly the same problem with the prodrive springs (see separate post from me). Only the rear springs have the plastic sleeves.

Hose pipe works better, I did a search before I fitted mine and noticed it was a common niggle so use hose pipe over the last turn on the bottom of each front spring, not had any noises :luxhello:

Doesn't sound silly to me as that is what i did on the front eibach springs on my 2004 wrx, think the springs was just moving about a little so cable tired them and no more noise :thumb:

erm standard garden hose pipe sorry thats all i had to hand, you could use heat shrink over them but not sure how long it would last.
