I'm sure there was a few threads about this b4 but can't find them now.....
Renewal is more than new quote price on line. Anyone bought new online rather than renew, or is there some new customer discount thing involved?

 

Ive not long renewed mine with norwich union,and the price was exactly the same on line as a new customer as my renewal.

 

My renewal in January was same price as new customer too

I had the same thing, i was quoted £130 more when it came to renewal time than i paid the previous year .. so i phoned them to question this and they basically said thats the price take it or leave it.
So i did the online thing and got a quote around the same as the previous year, called them up to confirm with the quote number and the guy even said "i see you are already insured with us" .... but still went ahead as a new customer and got £20 cash back with a special they were doing

 

I've done this in previous years with other insurers. They bank on people not checked the renewal and just taking it.

If you ring your existing company as a "new" customer I bet 9 times out of 10 its cheaper than the renewal. Then just when they ask who your last insurer was you can say "well...."
