Question

Hi all,

I've been looking into upgrading my 16" gold alloy wheels to Prodrive P1s with Pirrelli P-Zero tires.
My local Subaru dealership (Boldock) has quoted a price for fitting and balancing at
£1325.00 !
Yikes I said.
This breaks down to
Wheels = £170.17 + VAT (7pence short of £200.00) x4
Total cost - Wheel cost = 131.25 x 4
So I'm assuming the tires come in at say 125.00 and there charging 6 quid ish for fitting which seems well exceisive but livable.

I'm just wondering whether others have had experience with purchasing these and what they paid out (and really whether it was worth it). I haven't quite decided to go for it yet, but they are very very tempting.

Looking down through this news group people seem to have gone for SuperLeggeras as an alternative. I prefer the P1s in Gold. Its just got to be those geezers for me *8-)

Cheers.

- Mike

PS, I have a 'W' reg turbo in sonic blue.

Mike,

If you're in the SIDC, then most dealers will give a 10% discount. If your dealer doesn't, then tell 'em you'll spend you're £1k + somewhere else - Should do the trick.

Thanks Steve,

I've been waiting for August to turn up to become a SIDC member (role over month), and so I've just joined on line a few days ago funily enough. Now waiting for my membership to arrive in the post. 10% sounds just what I need! Thanks for the suggestion.

Mike,
The other way you could do it( as I did with a set of PD7's), is to buy just the wheels at a 10% discount from the dealer and then shop around for a good deal on tyres. From memory I did this for £1150 including a set of Bridgestone S02's.

I've got some OZ Superleggras coming in second week of September. Without tyres, I have got these beauties for under £600 delivered incl VAT etc etc.

Shopping for tyres now, think I'm onto a winner there as well.

I'm happy anyway....but I haven't sent my cheque yet so if anyone reckons they can be sourced cheaper let me know.

Mixed feelings about September because it is also when I have to cough up for car insurance (not nice...)

Roll on September :

Thumbs up

Thanks all,

I reckon I'm gonna take Steves advice and just buy the wheels from the dealer. According to some accounts Kwik Fit will do you a set of P-Zeros fitted and balanced for under £400 which is a lot better than the original £550 quote. Just have to put some trust the Kwik Fit boys which might not be such a great idea now I come to think of it.
How many scars do I want on my newly fitted wheels?
